Job Profile Summary
This job supports the operations of the (North, Central, South) campus Cashier's Office by providing financial services to students and campus departments with an emphasis on quality customer service. Assumes all responsibilities of the office supervisor when the Cashier Supervisor is unavailable. Daily guides the work of entry level and newer cashier staff and responsible for completion of complex cashier functions.

This position allows eligible veterans and their spouses to claim Veterans’ Preference pursuant to Florida Statute 295. Certain service members may be eligible to receive waivers for postsecondary educational requirements, in the employment by the state and its political subdivisions and are encouraged to apply for the positions being filled.

Minimum Education:
  • Associate's degree preferred.
  • College-level coursework in business, management, or accounting functions desired.
  • An equivalent combination of experience and education may be considered.
Minimum Experience/Training:
  • Three years of progressively responsible experience in a customer service and cashier related field or work.
Essential Functions:
Daily -55%: Applies payments to appropriate accounts by - collecting a variety of cash and cash-related transactions including third party billing documents - evaluating those transactions for accuracy and validity - creating official payment receipts - reconciling collections through a daily review and balance of transactions to the cashier session and credit card/check conversion equipment
Daily -20%: Researches student account inquiries by - evaluating payment, refund, coverage and other transaction history for accuracy - comparing account data from the student, finance and financial aid systems - consolidating information into a concise explanation - correcting accounts through reimbursements, coverage corrections, or communication with other departments
Daily - 10%: Prepares and reconciles departmental bank deposits for transport to financial institution by: auditing daily cash and cash-related collections of cashiering staff, investigating and resolving out of balance errors, packaging collections and completing documentation
Daily -10%: Provides information to internal and external customers by explaining pertinent/applicable rules, regulations, policies, and procedures, directing customers to appropriate departments or personnel
Daily -10%: Supports departmental operations by: processing purchase order receiving - serving as liaison to resolve interdepartmental issues - retaining records in accordance with established procedures - maintaining the confidentiality of student information - safeguarding college assets - - initiating refunds - researching credit card charge back requests in a timely manner - providing quality customer service at all times - other duties as assigned
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Skills and abilities include timely and accurate accounting and reconciliation of large scale cash exchange, credit receipt, and payment processing functions utilizing cash, credit card, debit card and check processing equipment.
  • Intermediate knowledge, understanding and skills in area of responsibility required; including an understanding of concepts and principles of related areas and functions.
  • Ability to set priorities for self, manage own time, effort and activities as well as contribute as an active team member
  • Ability to understand the goals, policies, and objectives of the unit, and standards for own job
  • Requires intermediate knowledge of computer systems, i.e. Microsoft Office products as well as specialized computer systems.
  • Ability to interact and effectively communicate with a diverse population of employees and students
