The Manager will have engagement across the broader finance, accounting, and strategy teams within Cengage, and is expected to contribute to the commercial and financial performance of Cengage by supporting the analytical foundation of corporate reporting and forecasting.The primary focus of the role is improving and supporting (1) forecasting processes and analysis aligned with key business drivers, (2) Cengage level corporate reporting and analysis, and (3) ad hoc support of capital structure, data strategy, and other initiatives. In more detail, the scope of the role covers the following:What you will do here:Driver-Based Budgeting & Forecasting• Collaborates with FP&A team members and business partners to develop and lead financial planning activities, including budgeting, short- and long-term forecasting, and revenue and expense driver analysis• Supports long-range planning process and activities for Cengage, including modeling, coordination, and consolidation of business unit financial projections and initiatives• Creates and maintains models to support strategic planning and understanding of long-term profit and loss impacts to drive business decisions• Identifies revenue-generating and expense efficiency opportunities based on understanding of business unit economics• Develops financial projections to support planning and investment decisions• Assists in developing market, industry and competitor intelligence and analyzing business opportunities, including acquisitions or divestitures• Assists in the development of budgeting and forecasting decks for discussion with the executive team, sponsors, and board of directorsInternal / External Reporting• Prepares and distributes monthly financial reports showing monthly, quarterly and forecasted performance• Uses an analytical approach to proactively identify key insights in Cengage performance trends and provide a trend analysis as needed• Finds opportunities to streamline and ensure continuous improvement of planning and reporting processes• Maintains and updates financial reporting structures as needed to align to business management requirements• Supports development of external investor presentations and data requirements for external reporting along with Board of Directors and executive team presentationsCapital Structure / Balance Sheet Initiatives / Ad Hoc Projects• Provides analysis of Cengage capital structure initiatives as required• Partners with business units and accounting team on data needs such as goodwill analysis, 409A valuations, and other ad hoc analysis• Supports and participates in multi-year SAP financial implementation as needed, including data strategy tools and forecasting/planning technologies• Leads the development of analysis or other special projects to support strategic and executive management decisions as assigned by the Senior Manager of Corporate FP&ASkills you will need here:• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or other quantitative field (e.g., economics, mathematics)• Minimum of 2-4 years’ experience in financial planning and analysis or similar finance-related role• Knowledge of financial statements - Balance Sheet, P&L, Cash Flow• Excellent working knowledge of Excel and PowerPoint• Excellent interpersonal and organization skills with an ability to handle multiple activities, prioritize and manage workload, and perform multiple tasks simultaneously• Strong verbal and written communications• Superior analytical, quantitative, and problem-solving skills• Curiosity, resourcefulness, flexibility and a willingness to collaborate• Self-starter who takes initiative; confident under pressure and able to consistently meet deadlinesCengage Group is proud to be an Equal Employment Opportunity and Affirmative Action employer. Individual base pay will vary based on work schedule, qualifications, experience, internal equity, and geographic location.
