Court Referred Services Case Worker

The Court Referral Case Worker is a vital member of the Center for Volunteer & Nonprofit Leadership (CVNL) team, responsible for providing support and guidance to individuals referred by the court system. This role focuses on connecting clients with meaningful community service opportunities, ensuring they fulfill their court-mandated requirements while also gaining life skills and improving their well-being. The Case Worker conducts client intakes, assesses individual needs, monitors progress, and builds relationships with community organizations to facilitate effective volunteer placements. The Court Referral Case Worker plays a crucial role in fostering a supportive environment that encourages rehabilitation and personal growth.

Case Management

  • Conduct intakes and assessments for court-referred clients in English and Spanish.
  • Develop personalized service plans that align with court requirements and client goals.
  • Monitor and evaluate client progress, providing ongoing support and intervention as needed.
  • Maintain thorough and accurate case documentation and records.
  • Process client case transfers to other counties as needed.
  • Handle juvenile case sealing requests, ensuring all documentation is processed in collaboration with probation officers.
  • Receive/Enter all Extension from Traffic Division.
  • Run and complete closing reports and tickler reports.
  • Communicating with CRIMU for referral questions.
  • Share responsibility for complex cases, handling escalated issues and more challenging clients.

Community Engagement

  • Build and maintain partnerships with local nonprofit organizations, court, probation personnel and community service agencies.
  • Facilitate connections between clients and volunteer opportunities, ensuring suitable placements.
  • Act as a liaison between clients and other stakeholders, including lawyers, probation officers, and court personnel.
  • Promote the benefits of community service and volunteerism to clients and local organizations.

Administrative Responsibilities

  • Assist with the collection and analysis of data related to client outcomes and program effectiveness.
  • Prepare reports on client progress and program performance for evaluation purposes.
  • Attend staff meetings and training sessions to enhance skills and contribute to team objectives.
  • Participate in staff development opportunities such as leadership training, de-escalation training, effectively working with justice-involved clients, volunteer engagement, etc.

 

Qualifications:

  • Associate’s degree in social work, criminal justice, or a related field. Bachelors preferred.
  • if hired, must successfully pass Department of Justice and FBI background check
  • Experience in case management or social services.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with an ability to relate to diverse populations, including individuals with criminal backgrounds who are going through difficult times.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Proficiency in technology, including MS Office and case management databases.
  • Bilingual skills (Spanish or other languages) are required.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
  • A commitment to serving the community and a passion for volunteerism.
  • Strong attention to detail and organization ability.

Physical & Travel Demands:

  • Must have visual acuity; be able to operate a computer and other office equipment; be able to move about inside an office; frequently communicate with others in person, on the phone or via the computer; routinely lift or move items up to 25 lbs.
  • Occasional travel throughout Sonoma County and surrounding areas for client engagements and CVNL events.
  • Reasonable accommodations can be made to enable individuals with differing abilities to perform the essential functions.

  • Vacation: 12 days in year 1, 15 days in year 2, 20 days in year 5.
  • Sick: 12 Sick days per year.
  • Holidays: 12 days observed.

Compensation:
The budgeted starting salary that CVNL reasonably expects to pay is $22.15-$22.81 hourly depending on prior experience. This takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, analysis of internal equity, and external market comparisons for similar positions in similar geographic locations and size. Offers are determined based on final candidate qualifications and experience.
