Director or Senior Director - AI, Creativity, and Copyright Policy

Chamber of Progress - a center-left tech industry association - is seeking a leader for “Generate & Create,” our new campaign to defend the copyright doctrine of fair use and the explosion of creativity through generative artificial intelligence.

Generative AI is unleashing new waves of creativity - including new forms of written, visual, and audio expression.  Opponents of fair use are working to shut down AI-created art through legal and legislative action. Generate & Create is a new campaign to encourage and promote this open canvas of AI-driven creativity.

This role will lead our new campaign highlighting how AI is expanding access to creativity, empowering artists, and bringing more competition to creative industries.  This role will work to protect established fair use protections for AI training and output - in the courts and in legislatures around the country.

  • Devise strategies for promoting AI-driven creativity and the democratization of creative tools

We’re not just another business group. Everyone knows that a local “chamber of commerce” promotes business and free markets. We’re an industry group, but instead of focusing on commerce, Chamber of Progress is promoting a progressive high-tech society, economy, workforce, and consumer climate.

Chamber of Progress supports public policies promoting:

- Economic progress, including combatting income inequality; promoting a bigger, modern social safety net; encouraging progressive taxation; and supporting reliable, win-win online marketplaces;

- Social progress, including promoting inclusive democracy; supporting bold action against climate change; promoting digital opportunity for all; and advocating for healthy and equitable online communities.

- Consumer progress, including promoting the principle that tech should always serve consumers’ interests; “building back better” by investing in communities and regulated innovation; increasing access to goods and information; and balancing consumer and worker concerns.
