Character/Creature Concept Artist [Animation Department]

The company has won multiple Emmy and VES awards for its work. Recent projects include WandaVision and Hawkeye, Wonder Woman 1984, The Mandalorian, and many more.

The Third Floor is looking for skilled Character/Creature Concept Artists to join our new Animation Department. Concept Artists will be responsible for designing and creating characters & creatures, as well as assisting other departments to ensure that the artistic visions are consistent throughout the pipeline process. Candidates should be familiar with stylized art, 2D Painting/Drawing, and, ideally, have previous experience in TV, Film, or Games.

Full Time. Remote Position. Must be in the state of California, Georgia, Texas, Oregon, Connecticut, Florida, New Jersey, New York (Outside NYC), Colorado, or Canada for remote positions.

Responsibilities:

• Collaborate with the Production Designer and Art Director to design and create unique characters & creatures.

• Help in the creation of a visual art style that is unique and inspiring.

• Help in the telling of a cinematic story: from paintings that express the mood and feel of an environment to working on character expression and pose sheets that visually describe a character’s personality and history.

• Partner with other departments and create turntables, orthographic views, and other 2D assets to help ensure that the concept designs are communicated and implemented throughout the film.

Essential Skills:

• Good understanding of stylized art and appeal.

• Good understanding of abstracting complex and busy images into simple shapes and designs.

• Work within a set production schedule.

• Strong 2D painting/drawing skills.

• Prior work in television, film, or games industry as a concept artist.

The pay scale is between $30 - $70 / hour based on experience, skillset and other factors. We work an average of 5 hours of paid overtime a week. Additional TTF benefits: Health Insurance (Medical, Dental, Vision), Sick Time, 401k (staff only), PTO (staff only), and additional Perks & Benefits.
