Description:
Perform concurrent, pre-bill and retrospective audits of billed charges against medical records to identify missing revenue or incorrect charges. Identify departments that are not charging properly and work with them to develop appropriate and standard charging practices. Estimated pay range for this position is $24.75 - $29.95 / hour depending on experience.
Qualifications:
Degrees: Bachelors Licenses & Certifications: AHIMA Certified Coding Associate AHIMA Certified Coding Specialist AAPC Certified Outpatient Coding AAPC Certified Professional Coder Additional Qualifications: Bachelor‘s degree in Health Information Management or other healthcare related field required or equivalent work experience. One of the following required, AAPC Certified Professional Coder, AAPC Certified Professional Coder-Hospital Outpatient, AHIMA Certified Coding Specialist, AHIMA Certified Coding Associate. Two years coding, billing and audit experience required. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including ability to effectively communicate with internal and external customers. Excellent computer proficiency (MS Office – Word, Excel and Outlook). Knowledge of laws, regulations and rules applicable to billing government payers is helpful. Must be able to work under pressure and meet deadlines, while maintaining a positive attitude and providing exemplary customer service. Ability to work independently and to carry out assignments to completion within parameters of instructions given, prescribed routines, and standard accepted practices.
