We are currently seeking a Cheesemaker to join our Production team in Merrill, WI. If you are looking for a unique opportunity, this is the job for you! We offer on-the-job training and apprenticeship towards your WI Cheesemaker license.

PAY and Sign-on Bonus

We are offering a $1,000 Hiring Bonus to candidates who maintain good attendance! Bonus amount is a gross amount; $500 to be paid after 90 days from hire; and a final $500 to be paid after 180 days from hire. Temporary, part-time and certain rehired employees are not eligible.

Pay: $22.00/hour plus weekend premium of $1.50/hour.

JOB Summary

Our Cheesemaker is responsible for producing high quality, safe and consistent products by monitoring and adjusting production line(s) as needed to maintain moisture, spice usage, and yields within acceptable limits.

WORK Schedule

Monday through Thursday, start time is 3:00 a.m.Schedule includes rotating Saturdays every three to four weeks (5 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.). Must be able to work Friday as our business needs fluctuate.

JOB Duties

• Monitor cheese vats and oversee the cheesemaking process
• Communicate with other departments regarding product quality and production issues
• Measuring and weighing ingredients for cheese recipes
• Accurate completion of daily production paperwork
• Produce quality products while adhering to Good Manufacturing and Food Safety Practices
• Maintain a safe work environment by following safety rules and procedures, using sound judgement for immediate action in reporting or correcting unsafe acts and/or hazards.

JOB Requirements:

• High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED)
• Proficient analytical and mathematical skills
• Must be willing to obtain a Wisconsin Cheesemaker License
• Must be able to work overtime, as required, to ensure the completion of daily production
• Minimum of two (2) years manufacturing experience is required
• Attention to detail is required to be successful.

Candidate must have the following attributes/skills; strong attention to detail and accuracy, personal qualities of tact and dependability, possess good manual dexterity, able to push/pull/lift and carry at least 30 pounds continuously and 50 pounds occasionally, be able to stand for entire shift, be able to perform repetitive movements (e.g. twisting, gripping, lifting, bending, reaching).
