Position Overview:

We are seeking an experienced Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to lead our finance department and provide financial expertise to our clients. The ideal candidate will have extensive knowledge of financial modeling and forecasting, accounting principles, and strong analytical skills. The CFO will be responsible for managing the agency's finances and developing financial strategies to support our growth and expansion goals, as well as providing financial guidance to our clients.

As a member of the leadership team, you will help develop and manage the strategic financial and commercial objectives and oversee all fiscal and fiduciary responsibilities, helping drive commercial best practice to maximize revenues and drive cost efficiencies. You will also be responsible for ensuring compliance with SOX and accounting standards. You will be the lead finance executive supporting the rapidly transforming and evolving needs of the business and team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • As a key member of the New York Executive team, you will set the strategic direction and provide strategic operating and financial recommendations to the CEO.
  • Develop and implement financial strategies to support the agency's growth and expansion goals.
  • Manage the agency's budget and ensure that expenditures are within the approved budget.
  • Provide financial guidance to the agency's creative and account teams to ensure that projects are profitable and within budget.
  • Work with clients to understand their financial goals and provide financial analysis and recommendations to support their business objectives.
  • Primarily responsible for the commercial strategy of Grey New York:
    • Master Service Agreements: negotiation and alignment with Grey Group standards and policies (e.g. audits, payment terms, pricing, etc.).
    • Scopes of Work (primarily financial/commercial terms).
    • Agency remuneration including the creation of compensation structures and incentive programs.
    • Review of client profitability; liaise with client teams to improve profitability.
    • Review bandwidth and analyze staffing requirements.
  • Develop and present financial proposals to clients and negotiate financial terms and agreements.
  • Monitor client accounts and provide regular financial reporting to ensure that they are meeting their financial targets.
  • Oversee budgeting and implementation of budgets to monitor progress and present financial metrics. Lead the budgeting and forecasting process, establishing budgets to align with strategic imperatives and ensure accountability throughout the agency.
  • Responsible for the implementation of accounting policies and procedures, including Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX).
  • Manage team's talent, create opportunities, and focus on long-term career development across the team.

Key Requirements:

  • Minimum of 15 years of experience in financial management, with at least 10 years in a leadership position.
  • Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or a related field.
  • MBA and/or CPA, or master's degree in finance preferred but not required
  • Collaborative working style based on open mindedness, with a focus on results.
  • Proven ability to present complex data in an easily understanding manner.
  • Strategic vision and ability to translate commercial best practice results into business success.
  • Strong analytical skills; adept at shifting from detail focus to "big-picture" view and back as needed.
  • Prior financial leadership experience in an advertising, media or professional service firm.
  • Proven success in contract negotiations (large and small).
  • Ability to tailor communication style to varied audiences.
  • Demonstrated excellence in managing finance and accounting functions.
  • Ability to lead and manage a team effectively.

In New York City, the base salary for this position at the time of this posting may range from $155,000 to $390,000. Individual compensation varies based on job-related factors, including business needs, experience, level of responsibility, and qualifications. #LI-Hybrid
