Job Summary


Langan is seeking a Chief Human Resource Officer to lead its collaborative Human Resources department. This individual will be responsible for the development, execution and oversight of human resource strategy and initiatives in support of the overall business plan, mission and strategic direction of the firm. Specific areas include organizational management, talent acquisition and management, change management, HR systems, labor law and compliance, and benefit and compensation management.


Job Responsibilities:


  • Establishes and implements HR strategies and initiatives that effectively support the firm’s mission and strategic vision;
  • Functions as a strategic business partner and advisor to senior leadership regarding organizational and management issues relating to human capital;
  • Participates in the development and execution of strategic planning within the firm by partnering with senior leadership to ensure initiatives pertaining to human capital management are aligned with business objectives;
  • Collaborates with senior leadership to establish management succession that corresponds with the strategy and objectives of the firm;
  • Oversees the development of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) initiatives, ensuring the firm is knowledgeable, engaged and actively building a culture of inclusion and belonging. Promotes diversity in the workplace and reinforces the firm’s position as an equal opportunity employer;
  • Develops comprehensive strategic recruiting and retention strategies to meet the human capital needs of the business as well as strategic goals. Develops programs ensuring a world-class candidate experience;
  • Counsels, coaches and guides managers and staff regarding HR matters and concerns pertaining to human capital management, including employee performance, career paths, employee relations, employee wellbeing and retention;
  • Develops and implements employee communication strategies to ensure awareness, inclusion, and a strong sense of employee connection to the firm;
  • Develops HR policies and procedures for effective human capital management and in support of the firm’s business operations and objectives. Creates programs and practices that provide an inviting and cohesive employee experience;
  • Oversees the implementation and management of employment law and compliance efforts. Partners with members of internal and external legal teams to ensure compliance and mitigate organizational risks;
  • Develops and oversees the implementation of comprehensive benefit plans and programs that are competitive and cost effective;
  • Provides overall leadership and guidance to the HR department by overseeing all aspects of functionality, including talent acquisition, talent management, leadership development, career development, retention, HR systems, internal programs and benefits;
  • Optimizes the HR function by conducting periodic review and analyses to determine HR operational effectiveness. Refines key processes and activities aligned with achieving optimal business goals and objectives;
  • Develops and oversees annual budgets for the department and performs periodic reviews to ensure cost effectiveness and budget adherence;
  • Supervises, coaches and collaborates with HR managers and staff. Responsible for performance management, professional growth and career development of HR personnel;
  • Interacts with vendors and external partners to create and maintain relationships, negotiate agreements and contracts and obtain optimal outcomes;
  • Participates on committees and special projects and seeks additional methods to add value to the firm; and
  • Performs other duties as requested.

Qualifications:


  • Bachelor’s degree; graduate degree relating to HR preferred;
  • HRCI or SHRM HR Certification a plus;
  • 20+ years’ HR experience preferred; in-depth knowledge of all HR functions;
  • 5+ years’ senior management experience;
  • Thorough knowledge of employment-related laws and regulations;
  • High level of business acumen, direct knowledge of professional services;
  • Sound judgment capability and strategically oriented;
  • Self-starter with the ability to work well within groups;
  • Ability to motivate and lead others;
  • High level of integrity and ability to maintain confidential information;
  • Exhibits behaviors that demonstrate diplomacy and discretion;
  • Flexible with an ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment;
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize work effectively and efficiently;
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail;
  • Strong interpersonal, problem-solving and conflict resolution skills;
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills; and
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and HR Systems.
