About the Work

Nuro is looking for a Chief Human Resources Officer to manage our efforts across HR, Recruiting, Total Rewards, and People Analytics. This position will report to the CEO. We are seeking a proven leader, who can strategically lead and develop a team of 50+ individuals and effectively represent the People org with a broad range of internal stakeholders. This role is essential in developing our management team as well as working with business leaders to translate strategy into practical and workable, people-focused solutions.

  • Provide leadership on people-related issues and policies across the company, such as recruitment, performance management, compensation and rewards, staff relations, and people development.
  • Ensure policies, procedures, and HR policies are consistently administered, aligned with organizational goals, and in compliance with professional standards, state and federal regulatory requirements, and laws.
  • Oversee all stages of the employee life-cycle processes and understand how they impact organizational performance.
  • Provide sound counsel and coaching for business leaders in order to guide decision-making and allow the company to scale effectively and efficiently.
  • Manage HRBPs, HR Operations, Compensation, and Recruiting teams across the organization and provide support for the recruiting team to build the organization with top talent that embodies Nuro's core values.
  • Lead people development programs for internal talent across the organization in order to grow and retain teams.
  • Facilitate performance management programs that align with business goals, monitor performance and promotions as well as maintain equity throughout the organization.
  • Shape the vision of inclusion and belonging that further grows the diversity of Nuro.

About You

  • 10+ years of Human Resources experience.
  • Analytical and data-driven, first principles thinker.
  • Fluent in employee relations, benefits, compensation, performance management, and recruitment as well as employment law and regulation.
  • Strategic business partner with the ability to work closely with leaders to drive business initiatives. Experience partnering with engineering leadership is a plus.
  • Must have a growth mindset, resilience, flexibility, the ability to be hands-on, and the eagerness to learn.
  • Experience scaling out an organization.
  • Experience supporting both non-exempt and exempt workforce is preferred.
  • Proven experience as a strategic coach to executives and leadership teams.
  • Experience with recruiting and HR management tools.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills as well as strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills.
  • Track record of integrity, discretion, and ethical behavior in all work situations, with a strong understanding and respect for confidential matters relating to people.

  • Experience in developing and implementing HR systems and best practices in implementing HRIS systems
  • Deep knowledge of benefits, compensation, immigration policies, employee relations, and compliance
  • Development of performance management programs, involving employee development, succession planning, and building robust review processes as well as total rewards incentives

At Nuro, your base pay is one part of your total compensation package. For this position, the reasonably expected pay range is between $275,000 and $310,000 for the level at which this job has been scoped. Your base pay will depend on several factors, including your experience, qualifications, education, location, and skills. In the event that you are considered for a different level, a higher or lower pay range would apply. This position is also eligible for an annual performance bonus, equity, and a competitive benefits package.

You must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 by your hire date to be eligible to start the role. Proof of vaccination will be required by your start date.
