Position Title: Chief of Staff for Softball

Responsibilities:

The University of Louisiana at Lafayette is seeking a qualified Chief of Staff for Softball. This position will report directly to The Head Softball Coach. This position’s primary duties include overseeing the daily operations of the NCAA Division I Softball team and providing support for the Head Softball Coach.

Specific job duties include:

Serve as staff resource to the Head Softball Coach by providing coordination and planning between the Softball staff and the senior administrative staff.
Oversee and manage the department’s budget.
Monitor the number of contacts and evaluations conducted by the coaching staff and work with Athletics Compliance to ensure records are consistent.
Develop, direct, and implement an effective public relations plan and promotional events related to the Softball program.
Coordinate Softball team travel including, but not limited to, transportation, meals, and housing arrangements, will be required to travel to all home and away competitions.
Supervise planning and coordinating official and unofficial visits to campus (itineraries, travel, hotel, hosts, meals, name tags, seating charts, compliance paperwork, complimentary tickets, etc.)
Supervise coordination of travel (commercial, charter, and state pooling board) for coaches on the road recruiting).
Coordinate the daily operational and logistical processes with the Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns Softball program.
Coordinate completion and submission of required business paperwork and expense reports.
Supervise communication with coaches and/or prospects when traveling to campus.
Serve as a liaison between all departments on recruiting matters (compliance, student services, strength and conditioning, sports medicine, travel, business, facilities, housing, parking, tickets, Community Services, etc.).
Coordinates all student-athlete sessions with the nutritionist, strength coaches, sports medicine trainers.
Coordinate all activities with the Student Athlete Academic Center to include academic advising and tutoring.
Organize student-athlete development.
Supervise all student managers for the Softball program.
Support the educational mission of the University and the professional obligation to enhance intercollegiate athletics by providing opportunities to educate students interested in this field.
Provide broad-based and specific experience to students through internship opportunities and student worker positions.
Be committed to the compliance process and assist with rules education.
Serve as an ambassador of the University and its Athletics Department to all public entities.
Make all decisions relating to all equipment orders.
Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited institution.
One (1) year experience working in athletics at a college/university or comparable.

Preferred Qualifications:

Master's degree from a regionally accredited institution.
Exhibit excellent written and verbal communication, organizational, public relations, interpersonal, customer service, and supervisory skills when working with student-athletes, faculty, staff, coaches, and administration.
Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others; commitment to working with multi-cultural populations.
Have strong work ethic and be a person of high integrity and character who shares a commitment for knowing and complying with NCAA, Conference, and Institutional rules as they apply to the University of Louisiana at Lafayette Athletics program.
Ability to work extended daily hours, evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
