Job Description

Position Summary

Responsible for properly using the machines and equipment necessary to achieve cleanliness and sanitation of the interior and exterior common areas of the community. Responsible for cleaning and maintaining the equipment used by the environmental services department, to include floor buffers, carpet extractors, vacuums, power washers etc.

Essential Duties

  • Responsible for emptying trash in common areas, disposing of trash in the dumpsters and disinfecting trash receptacles in all common areas.
  • Responsible for maintaining carpets and floors using vacuums, extractors, buffing machines.
  • Responsible for assessing damage to floors, carpets, tile, and equipment and reporting that information in a timely basis to direct supervisor.
  • Responsible for cleaning outside furniture and smoking areas.
  • Responsible for deep cleaning and disinfecting resident rooms before admission and/or as needed.
  • Responsible for assessing department inventory, assisting with stocking inventory and supplies and informing director of shortages and overstocks. 
  • Responsible for completing detailed cleaning assignments as directed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications & Experience

  • High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • At least 6 months experience in the janitorial or floor care field, preferably in a healthcare environment.
  • Experience in using cleaning equipment such as buffers, extractors, power washers, carpet cleaners.
  • Ability to complete tasks from a checklist operation schedule.
  • Must be able to read, write and speak the English language.
  • Must possess excellent customer service skills.

Working Conditions / Physical Requirements

  • Moderate to heavy physical activity required by exerting up to 75 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 45 pounds of force frequently and/or up to 22 pounds of force constantly.
  • Constant standing, walking, and grasping.  Frequent stooping and reaching above shoulder heights, occasional sitting, crawling, kneeling, and squatting.
  • Frequent exposure to chemicals.
  • May have exposure to blood borne pathogens, body excretions and communicable diseases possible.
  • Is subject to frequent interruptions.
  • Interacts with residents, family members, visitors frequently.
