Job DescriptionChubb is seeking an Assistant Actuary to join our team. The candidate who fills this position will be focused on the team's catastrophe-related work. The role operates on a hybrid schedule and is based in our Whitehouse Station, NJ office.Claims Actuarial Insights strives to empower claims professionals with actionable intelligence. The team works closely with senior leaders to identify claims trends, develop performance metrics, and provide catastrophe projections and reporting. Projects are primarily focused on North America but overseas opportunities exist. This department is a great place for someone who would like to develop strategic thinking, business acumen, and communication skills.Primary Responsibilities:• Apply critical thinking to improve and expand the North American Catastrophe (CAT) Projection Process. This includes automating and running a recurring update, developing solutions to current challenges, building additional capabilities, and performing testing/validation. This will be the role's main focus.• Continue to build out the CAT Dashboard to include all data sources and a robust projection.• Help run the biweekly CAT report and supporting analyses, as needed.• Lead special CAT analyses, such as the CAT Staffing Model.• Support ad hoc analyses (not limited to catastrophes) that facilitate effective decision making.• Help with analysis and commentary for the Claims Quarterly Close report.• Work with Claims IT and Business Intelligence to influence claim data strategy and define requirements necessary to support actuarial analyses.Qualifications• Bachelor's degree preferred• 5+ years of experience in property/casualty actuarial disciplines; ACAS preferred• Proficiency in Excel and working knowledge of VBA• Proficiency in SQL server; Working knowledge of R or Python is a plus• Working knowledge of QlikSense, Power BI, or Cognos is a plus• Strong analytical skills with the ability to work independently and effectively overcome challenges• Strong project and time management skills. Will take ownership of projects.• Able to maintain good documentation and record keeping• Able to provide clear and concise verbal and written communications to non-actuarial business leader• Desire to work in a fast-paced, fluid environmentAbout UsChubb is a world leader in insurance.
