Sr. Business AnalystJob DescriptionTo be added by the hiring The Systems/Business Analyst (SBA) will serve as a product owner between the business and the IT organization for key Commercial Insurance Middle Market applications such as Customarq, ATD, and APEX. The SBA will assist in the business process design and documentation as needed for new products/enhancements; translate high level business requirements into functional features for the IT organization; effectively manage the product backlog; and manage changes to such specifications in accordance with Chubb and/or industry standards and processes. The SBA will educate the IT organization on the direction of the business and negotiate agreements and commitments between business unit(s) and IT from initial requirements to final implementation.The SBA is expected to own projects and take the lead in guiding business partners to thorough requirements and testing strategies, evaluating technical design for completeness, owning issue resolution, and leading acceptance testing . The SBA will influence business customers on appropriate problem definition to allow for solution options (as opposed to definition of solution) and leverage a variety of business process documentation techniques such as process modeling and use cases.The SBA must ensure that the system is specified to the satisfaction of both the business and technical communities and to that point must demonstrate an understanding of the relationship between Chubb applications and flow of data between the systems. The SBA must be aware of the impact of a project on other user groups and other IT applications and alert others as appropriate. The SBA must oversee and, in some cases, drive system testing and user acceptance testing efforts in collaboration with the QA team and operations teams to ensure we have proper coverage and resources for the work required to finalize delivery of a project or product enhancement.While current methodologies are more waterfall in nature, the SBA must possess knowledge of Agile methodologies and be able to build scrum master capabilities within an agile team by facilitating discussions, ideations with business and define epics, user stories along with acceptance criteria. Being able to also facilitate clarifications between business and offshore development teams is a key skill where demonstrated experience or the ability to do so is required.The SBA must also build a relationship with the platform software vendor where applicable as part of the facilitation and clarification duties described above.Knowledge of the insurance industry is required. The ability to expose requirements through detail questions and propose alternate solutions options is critical.Successful candidate should:- Be business savvy and understand the business and system priorities and make decisions accordingly- Own issues with follow up through resolution- Work independently with minimal oversight- Proactively communicate using appropriate methods- Communicate appropriately with many levels, from processors to senior management- Generate ideas for solving problems and own through implementation- Take initiative to learn about the system and the business- Analyze problems down to the root cause, develop multiple solution options and recommend a course of action- Work well with onsite and offshore resources- Escalate problems and questions when needed- Effectively multi-task across multiple projects concurrently- Continuously seek process improvementQualificationsBachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Administration, or other related field, and/or equivalent work experience.Minimum 10 years of relevant technical or business work experience. Demonstrate clear understanding of business process disciplines.Insurance knowledge/experience is required for this role.Experience in Customarq, ATD, and APEX applications is highly valued.About UsChubb is a world leader in insurance.
