CIC is looking for an enthusiastic and proactive individual to support management of the MA event program. This is an exciting full-time opportunity for someone with 5+ years of professional experience working in events in a fast-paced and dynamic environment. This role will dedicate their time to systems implementation, team leadership, project management, cross-team collaboration, and space maintenance, and management of Event Coordinators.
ABOUT CIC EVENTS
CIC hosts dozens of events every month at our event spaces in Cambridge’s Kendall Square and Boston’s Financial District. Our Events team acts as venue coordinators for our spaces and leads community event programming for our members. Events hosted at CIC range from networking nights to all-hands meetings to coffee klatches and everything in between.
YOUR DAY-TO-DAY WORK
You will support a holistic experience for event coordination focused on the MA centers. The Assistant Director of Events, MA uses their deep events knowledge to identify and help solve problems and directly manage a team of Event Coordinators. This role includes elements of event management, relationship building, collaboration with internal and external teams, as well as independent work.
Team Leadership:
• Manage a team of 3 full time Event Coordinators; serve as a role model and leader for the team.
• Work alongside regional leadership to identify and support initiatives that drive revenue.
• Manage Events Coordinators responsibilities and projects, keeping in mind skill-sets and a balanced workload. Set expectations about the Events Coordinator role and delivery, ensure a clear understanding of information essential for performing the job, develop team processes, provide feedback, and enable appropriate training.
• Responsible for addressing opportunities for growth and development of direct reports, while communicating regularly with regional leadership about performance challenges and strengths, initiatives, trends, feedback.
Event Operations:
• Pursue programmatic goals for CIC’s Events program and oversee operational events workflow.
• Coordinate maintenance and experience of event spaces and AV equipment; make suggestions for improvements to functionality, design, and branding in the spaces. With support from regional leadership, drive forward larger scale space improvements.
• Support all aspects of events hosted by CIC members and event clients; guide Event Coordinators to manage event details through the entire process.
• Own elements of clients experience, maintaining event spaces, communicating with building management, aligning insurance for vendors, arranging event staffing, utilizing software and tracking systems.
• Collaborate closely with internal CIC teams, to ensure a smooth event experience for key stakeholders.
• Execute on the annual budget for the Events team, aligning with metrics for evaluation and guidance from regional leadership.
• Communicating closely with regional leadership regarding trends, challenges, opportunities, and updates, with a goal of elevated host experience and streamlined event operations.
• Act as a point person for the MA Events team with building management, cleaning, and security staff.
• Supporting other members of the MA team, global CIC events team, and others as appropriate or necessary.

• An understanding of audio/visual equipment and readiness to develop expertise for new and emerging technologies.
• An understanding of event data tracking systems similar to CRM, Tripleseat, or other tools that measure success and collect event experience feedback.
YOU HAVE
• A Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
• Minimum 7 years of professional experience, majority of time in the events industry.
• Minimum of 3 years of people management experience.
• Ability to work from CIC Cambridge 5 days per week; able to travel to Providence at least once a month.
