City Laborer

The mission of the New York City Police Department is to enhance the quality of life in New York City by working in partnership with the community to enforce the law, preserve peace, protect the people, reduce fear, and maintain order. The Building Maintenance Section (BMS) plays a critical role in keeping Department Facilities operating safe for staff and visitors as if oversees the maintenance for over 250 Department Facilities Citywide. BMS manages multiple facilities renovations that support Department Initiatives and unit relocations. BMS is comprised uniform, civilian trades, professional and administrative staff.

Moving, lifting and carrying items of various weights and sizes; loading and unloading heaving equipment and materials at Department facilities, warehouses; moving vans or trucks; operating manual and/or power-driving equipment; assisting skilled craftsmen and engaging in clearing debris from construction and/or repairs.

License Requirements
Possession of a Motor Vehicle Driver License valid in the State of New York.

Demonstrate strong and thoroughness in all aspects of a daily work
Must be a team player with an energetic positive disposition
Able to identify deadlines and work effectively in a pressurized environment
