Job Description

The Bureau of Public Health Clinics has the mission of improving the sexual heath of all New Yorkers. To achieve this the Bureau provides direct clinic services to people seeking sexual health care, and services to sex partners; monitors disease trends; provides education and training to providers and community groups, conducts research, and develop policies to improve sexual health and wellness.

The Bureau of Public Health Clinics seeks to hire a BPHC Advisory Group Coordinator. The coordinator will report to the Director of Community Workforce Engagement and work closely with the Community Outreach Engagement team to develop outreach strategies that align with the bureau's mission and vision, integrate key stakeholder and community members' feedback, and meet the overall mission of the agency's public health goals.

DUTIES WILL INCLUDE BUT NOT BE LIMITED TO:
- Build a curated list of key stakeholders, city wide and specific to neighborhoods where public health clinics are located. The goal is to develop a list of community stakeholders (agencies and community members) that are vested in the community and address the various needs of neighborhood and community members culturally, as well as language access.
- Develop and lead advisory group(s) of key stakeholders that will meet quarterly that will include but not be limited to inform about upcoming or new programmatic and service updates; to request feedback about outreach activities and community engagement; and amplify public messaging about available clinic services to their catchment areas or populations, as needed.
- Develop and lead clinic patient or community member advisory groups, giving special attention to clinics that require increase in foot traffic or other tailored attention based on service uptake. The aim is to have this be a data driven and informed initiative that is responsive to the rollout of new clinic services and tailored approaches to impacted communities and their members. For example, assure that our public health clinics are safe spaces for our gender diverse community members, that our clinic services are culturally sensitive, and offer services in the languages that reflect the community.
- Work closely or upon request with clinic teams and various disciplines to assist in building out a strong network of external partners for linkage to care referrals and social services.
- Work closely with the Community Outreach and Engagement team to develop outreach strategies that align with the bureau's mission and vision, integrate key stakeholder and community members' feedback and meet the overall mission of the agency's public health goals.
- Work closely with the Communications Manager to inform public messaging that is patient centered and integrates key stakeholder and community members' feedback yet aligns with the public health clinics' service delivery and capacity.
- Develop data dashboards and tracking systems that capture the buildout and list of partner and community contacts.
- Report on activities to peers and senior management on a regular cadence or upon request.

- Ability to travel using public transportation throughout the 5 New York City boroughs is a key need for this role.
- Experience and comfort in public speaking, managing meetings, delivering community presentations, and with key stakeholders is a need for this role.
- Attend to other unit specific programmatic duties that align with the role, as assigned or upon request.
- Extensive experience with Microsoft Suite “ Word, Excel, Power Point, etc.
- Be responsive and attentive to City agency employee protocols and policies.
- Attention to prompt time and attendance is a must.
- Fluency in other languages in addition to English language is an added value for this role.

Qualifications

1. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and two years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties described above; or
2. High school graduation or equivalent and six years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties as described above; or
3. Education and/or experience which is equivalent to "1" or "2" above. However, all candidates must have at least one year of experience as described in "1" above.
