Under administrative direction, is responsible for performing administrative and management level work directing the planning, designing, and construction activities of a large department. Working conditions are primarily in an office environment. Exercises direct supervision over assigned staff.
Work Location
Various city facilities with assignments being based on departmental needs.
Work Hours7:45 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.; Monday - Friday• Supervises, trains, and evaluates assigned staff.• Attends Pre-Construction and Pre-Bid conferences and other necessary construction meetings.• Attends meetings with citizen groups, community associations and City staff to discuss project scope and implementation.• Coordinates and reviews design work performed by consultants.• Resolves conflicts and other related problems as a result of project construction.• Advises management on project problems, delays, quality control, and presents possible solutions.• Reviews contractors' requests for payment.• Inspects construction sites to determine project progress.• Responds to request for project information from City Management staff, City Council, the press and citizens.• Prepares construction related reports, correspondence, and ordinances for City Council action.• Prepares and monitors budget.• Performs related duties and fulfills responsibilities as required.• Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university.• Five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in construction project management or supervisory experience.• Valid Class "C" Texas Driver's License.Preferred Qualifications• Ability to develop and manage in-house work plans, read and write specifications, and read and develop drawings.• Experience with SAP and facility maintenance work order systems.• Applicants for this position must pass a Criminal Justice Information Systems (CJIS) fingerprint-based background check and maintain CJIS eligibility.
