Job Summary/Basic Function:

The Classroom Technology Administrator will be responsible for supporting audio-visual and control technology that allows faculty to seamlessly conduct classes at the University. The Classroom Technology Administrator will analyze, model, design, simulate, install and maintain classrooms systems and applications to include audio-visual projection, classroom recordings, communication networks, data links, classroom networking and classroom architectural design.



Department Overview:

The Office of Information Technology's Audio Visual team provides comprehensive support and installation for multimedia needs, enhancing Boise State University's campus experience throughout classrooms and conference rooms.



Level Scope:

Fully competent and productive professional contributor who applies acquired job skills, policies and procedures to complete substantive assignments/projects/tasks of moderate scope and complexity. Works independently with general supervision; exercises judgment within defined guidelines and practices to determine appropriate action. May provide guidance and assistance to entry level professionals and/or support employees.



Essential Functions:
  • Responsible for the design, installation and maintenance of an enterprise multimedia service to the University.
  • Monitor multimedia systems for operational and performance issues to diagnose problems and develop a stable and reliable multimedia platform. Be able to analyze response time problems and take corrective action. Take a proactive approach to monitoring platforms and services, including monitoring for usage, performance, quality of voice and video, software conflicts and security issues.
  • Communicate complex technical information at a client’s level of understanding. Assist the Care Department with their support of faculty. Assist departments and individual instructors/staff with multimedia issues. Research current product patches/fixes through web accesses and/or telephone.
  • Manage life cycle of lab, classroom, podium and kiosk-based PC’s. Image & deploy newly acquired equipment.
  • Support business processes of classroom & conference room multi-media installations, maintenance, repair and replacements. Maintain current inventory of installed and newly acquired equipment.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.


Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
  • Knowledge of multimedia A-V and control equipment and systems; projectors, microphones, speakers, cameras, codecs, bridging equipment and their interconnection over TCP/IP.
  • Knowledge of Windows & Macintosh desktop computers, including but not limited to maintenance, imaging, updates, diagnostics, troubleshooting, advanced configuration & application software.
  • Skilled in interpersonal relationships and communication.
  • Experience in developing and delivering training in multimedia hardware and application software systems.
  • Training in Information Technology concepts.
  • Maintain current professional certification at the industry standard level or at the University level of deployment, whichever is more appropriate to fully support the enterprise multimedia system.


Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree plus 2 years of relevant professional experience or equivalent.

Starting salary of $57,200/yr, commensurate with experience.
