Cleaner (Full-Time)
Required Qualifications: Per Civil Service Standards and Specifications. There are no education or experience requirements. Applicants must be physically able to perform medium to heavy physical labor. Applicants must be able to follow and understand simple verbal and/or written instructions in English.
Brief Description of Duties: Cleaners work independently or as part of a work team that performs a wide range of specialized and routine cleaning activities such as stripping and polishing floors, window washing, vacuuming, trash and recycling removal, dusting and cleaning walls, office space, kitchens and common areas, hospital and clean rooms, laboratories, residential facilities, and restrooms. The nature of the cleaning assignments ranges from light, medium, to heavy physical effort. The class is non-supervisory.
Special Notes: These are full-time positions, 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday, 4:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. FLSA Nonexempt position, eligible for the overtime provisions of the FLSA. Internal and external search to occur simultaneously. Mandatory rehire roster candidates have preference.
The selected candidate must successfully clear a background investigation.

Priority is given to current part-time Cleaners based on seniority in the Operational Services Bargaining Unit and transfers within state service.

In accordance with federal and state regulations that all hospitals and nursing homes require personnel to be vaccinated against COVID-19, candidates who are not already fully vaccinated must obtain the first dose of a COVID-19 vaccine within three (3) calendar days of acceptance of a conditional job offer and must obtain any subsequent doses in accordance with that particular vaccine manufacturer’s protocol. The state regulation also includes those who may be affiliated with or interact with employees of a hospital or nursing home. The regulations allow for limited exemptions with reasonable accommodations, consistent with applicable law.
Essential Position: This has been designated as an essential position based on the duties of the job and the functions performed. Positions that are designated as such are required to report to work/remain at work even if classes are canceled, and the campus is working on limited operations in an emergency.
