Job Description:
Hours: Mon - Fri 8am - 5pm
JOB SUMMARY
The Coordinator is responsible for performing a variety of tasks for the pathology office including but not limited to:
The management of incoming and outgoing pathology slides and specimens, accessioning of all pathology cases,
Processing of in-house orders and reference lab orders, result/report entry, adding addendums to patient reports and performing follow-up on pending tasks.
Acts as a liaison for external hospital departments, providing status updates on cases and managing all internal and external inquiries.
Performs specimen processing in the main clinical laboratory and gross room specimen accessioning.
JOB RESPONSIBLITIES
Locates, contacts, and secures slides/blocks from outside facilities, as requested, and returns these review case materials to originating facilities in a timely manner per regulatory guidelines.
Processes all send out orders.
Manual input of all send out results.
Accessions and assigns cases to Pathologists for review and completes follow-up on pending and cancelled cases.
Inputs addendums to patient reports on a daily basis, as results are received.
Files and stores slides and blocks in an orderly fashion for quick retrieval.
Acts as a liaison for all external hospital departments , providing status updates on cases and managing all internal and external inquiries.
Performs other duties as assigned by Laboratory Management.
Performs specimen processing duties in main clinical laboratory.
Accessions pathology specimens submitted to the gross room.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS
Experience: High School diploma required
Education: Proficient in Microsoft Word/Excel/Outlook
Special Skills: Professional demeanor, effective collaboration and communication skills ensuring team work with co-workers, other hospital staff, physicians and clients. Well acquainted with pathology and laboratory medicine terminology. Excellent organizational, customer service, problem solving and critical thinking skills.
Pay Range
$18.39 - $28.42
Placement within the identified pay range is based on individual and market factors including, but not limited to, experience, education, credentials (including licenses and certifications), geographic location, market competition, skill set (including market availability of required skills), assigned/anticipated job tasks, and level of responsibility.
