Opportunities in distribution include forklift operators, pickers/packers, mechanics, supervisors and other disciplines.

Performs all duties required of Forklift Operator II. Utilizing Mary Kay Inc.’s Business Systems (WM/JDE), assists with the inventory function at the Branch Distribution Center. This includes maintaining accurate inventory records and ensuring product is available to fill orders to the independent sales force. Rotates to other warehouse functions, i.e., Order Filler I or II, as needed. Maintains goodwill by performing service-related activities and actively pursuing Golden Rule Service. Performs duties and responsibilities based on business needs and in accordance with work instructions and accepted standards.



ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

List duties and responsibilities that illustrate how the job is accomplished. Include for each the complexity/scope, independent judgment/ decision making and impact of errors. Include approximate percentage of work time spent on each item. Percentages must add up to 100%.



  • Receives merchandise by unloading pallets from trucks. Stages inventory on the dock in a uniform manner to minimize handling, which creates a smooth flow of traffic. Verifies inventory part numbers and quantities match Advance Shipping Notification (ASN) report. Scans ASN, prints inventory labels and pallet ID’s. Notes variances, reconciles discrepancies, and sends report to Inventory Control. Ensures all cases are properly labeled with an active bar code facing outward on the pallet. Ensures each active pallet ID bar code is in the lower right-hand corner of pallet. Scans the pallet and relocates the inventory to a bulk storage location. Plans, organizes, and oversees shipping activities according to inventory receiving schedules, manpower availability, and marketing deadlines. This consists of branch to branch transfer requests. Maintains proper rotation of finished goods from Inventory Control (FIFO). Oversees inventory activities related to the pick lines and backorders. This consists of adding new products, removing old products, adjusting damaged products, and completing replenishment tasks. Processes CDS conversion requests.

  • Coordinates intra-company inventory backhauls and disseminates information to Inventory Control. Follows Inventory Control’s direction regarding which product to pull and verifies that quantities match outbound shipping paperwork. Ensures load is secure for outbound shipment.

Monitors inventory levels and works closely with the Distribution Coordinator and Warehouse Supervisor to release orders in a timely manner. Works with IST to resolve computer system issues.

  • Utilizes RF and WM system to access system generated tasks to stock the pick line and secondary warehouse locations. Locates product in reserve bulk location. Verifies inventory part number matches system generated request. Scans location bar code to remove the inventory from bulk storage. Stocks the pick line by scanning the location and the requested number of cases. Opens, prepares, and loads cases into bulk flow racks. Lifts cases to shoulder level or over head to place product on pallets or bulk rack. Returns remaining inventory to original bulk location or to other bulk location through the suggested put away function. Performs daily forklift safety checklist. If applicable, performs preventative maintenance on batteries (always wearing necessary safety equipment), including removing and charging battery, watering battery, inspecting battery for exposed wires, and reporting failures to Supervisor. Interfaces with Managers, Supervisors, and Distribution Coordinators within the Branch to manage/resolve problems or issues with inventory availability, customer service issues, and/or distribution process. Appropriately elevates inventory, distribution, and/or customer service problems. Interfaces with Corporate Warehouse to resolve inventory and receiving problems.

  • Adheres to the Distribution Center cycle count and line audit procedures. Ensures that cycle counting tasks are completed daily and that supporting documentation is filed. Supports the reconciliation process and post inventory evaluation. Ensures accurate receiving records are maintained, coordinates weekly cycle counts throughout the year, and reviews documentation to support adjustments to the perpetual inventory records. Reviews daily distribution reports to maintain and improve order processing levels of finished product for customers. Provides input in the development and implementation of control systems, interprets information, and implements problem-solving actions and continuous improvement processes.

  • Performs additional system generated cycle counts as assigned. Completes system generated cycle counts by scanning each case on the pallet. Assists inventory control with reconciliation of variances.

Performs inventory adjustments and explains adjustments when requested by Inventory Control. Assists inventory control with empty slot audit report to locate inventory “In Inventory, Not Put Away” status. Performs empty slot location count to determine capacity levels in warehouses. Notifies Supervisor when the actual inventory in a system generated task location does not match the requested inventory part number. Once notification has occurred and the task is deleted by the Supervisor, a cycle count is performed on the location to correct the inventory discrepancy. Assists Inventory Control by pulling obsolete/expired product from line or reserve locations when requested.

  • Trains Forklift Operators where applicable. Provides assistance to Forklift Operators regarding the tasking process by fielding questions and issues, if necessary. May check integrity of WM Cycle Counts by monitoring daily, weekly, and monthly system generated cycle count reports. May take responsibility for weekly verification of “Open Slot Report” audit. Performs miscellaneous duties including maintaining equipment, performing building maintenance, assisting Supervisor as needed, conducting inventories, keeping warehouse clean and free of clutter, etc.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Indicate the required minimum level of education, experience and skills generally required to successfully perform the responsibilities of the position.



Education

High school diploma or equivalent.


Experience


3-5 years of warehouse experience and 1-3 years of inventory control experience in a distribution environment. Must be able to perform all duties of Forklift Operator II.


  • Must have good time management and organizational skills to manage multiple contests simultaneously and provide exceptional customer service. Must be an individual contributor as well as a team player. Must be proactive and be able to interact with all levels within the organization.
  • Must have in-depth knowledge of the proper handling of hazardous materials, the use of materials safety data sheets (MSDS), and the safe operation of forklift equipment. DOT and IATA certification is strongly desired.
  • Must have excellent oral and written communication skills to interact with subordinates and other Distribution personnel. Must have Word and Excel experience. Must have knowledge and experience with stock locator and warehouse management systems, preferably JDE.
  • Leadership, interpersonal, and organizational skills are required to effectively direct multiple inventory functions.
  • Must be flexible to change schedule due to changing business needs.
  • Must be able to lift and push a minimum weight of 20 to 50 pounds to occasionally move boxes of inventory.
  • Must be able to stand, sit and/or walk for extended periods of time.
  • Incumbent must be able to maintain an attendance record in good standing. More specifically, incumbent is required to meet all "Attendance and Punctuality" guidelines as specified in Employee Handbook and is expected to know and follow all safety rules, policies, and procedures.
