About This Role
Climate Power has an immediate opening for a Rapid Response Designer to join its Creative Department to conceive and execute innovative and original static and motion graphic content for its owned digital platforms, partners, and special projects. The ideal candidate will have experience producing compelling creative design assets independently and at speed, some experience in politics and/or issue advocacy, and a platform-specific understanding of how to communicate with audiences online.
Primary Responsibilities- Rapid Response Design Execution: Work with the Creative Department and its counterparts in the Digital Department to identify and respond to planned and emerging rapid response opportunities by producing timely and engaging static and motion design assets that drive Climate Power’s messaging priorities across the organization’s owned social media platforms and mobilization programs.
- Content Optimization & Trend Awareness: Work closely with Digital Department counterparts to ensure content is optimized for specific platforms. Follow design trends and maintain awareness of social media trends, especially around climate politics.
- Cross-Team Collaboration: Reach across Climate Power departments and campaigns to develop, retain, and grow a deep understanding of the organization’s messaging priorities and programmatic goals.
- Concept Development: Work independently and collaboratively to develop and pitch creative digital design concepts for planned rapid response opportunities.
Additional responsibilities as need and capacity dictate.
Essential Qualifications - Three years of relevant prior work experience creating static and motion digital design assets - ideally at an issue-focused non-profit, political, or news organization.
- Experience producing timely and compelling content to answer planned and unplanned rapid response scenarios.
- Proficiency in Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign.
- Proficiency in the full Adobe Creative Suite and/or additional design applications and tools is a plus.
- Demonstrable in applying and adhering to brand guidelines and understanding composition, typography, and color.
- Strong understanding of the intersections between climate policy and politics and the news cycle.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, keen attention to detail, and workflow organization.
- Interpersonal skills, a sense of humor, and the ability to work well on and across teams.
- A strong portfolio of digital design work.
- Proficiency in Google Workplace and project management applications.
Location & Hours of Operations- Climate Power is a remote-first organization based in DC. This position can be located anywhere in the U.S., but must be able to work Monday - Friday 9 am - 6 pm EST, plus weekends and evenings as the work dictates.
$70,000 - $83,371 a year

Our Hiring Timeline and Process
