JOB SUMMARY: Orders, receives and distributes equipment and supplies. Generates proper documentation and reports in support of equipment and supplies ordered, received and utilized in the department. Maintains automated database. Communicates with appropriate parties to obtain and distribute supply information. Monitors inventory for proper on hand quantities, maintenance and usage. Ensures that any new item brought in for use has the appropriate FDA approval documentation and any required supplemental Medicare charge codes. Facilitates the selection, evaluation, acquisition, and implementation of products and equipment. Audits specialty implants and high dollar inventory items for charging, documentation, and payment accuracy
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: Associate's degree in business or nursing or equivalent combination of education and experience

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 1. Performs on-line purchasing requests, maintains database files and produces reports as required from the department automated inventory system. 2. Performs re-stocking and relocation of generic supplies (supplies ordered from outside the hospital). 3. Performs re-stocking and relocation of service-specific supplies (supplies ordered from outside the hospital). 4. Communicates with vendors regarding departmental supplies and equipment. 5. Manages and maintains all products used in the department. 6. Serves as a resource for Medical Center staff regarding products and equipment. 7. Facilitates the selection, evaluation, acquisition, and implementation of investigative and specialty products and equipment. 8. Protects self, co-workers and facility by following approved policies and procedures to prevent the spread of bloodborne and/or airborne disease(s). 9. Performs patient charge audits of specialty implants and/or inventory items with a high department cost. 10. Provides age/developmentally appropriate patient care in accordance with Age-Specific Care Guidelines for the specific age groups served.
