About the role
In this role, you will deliver performance improvements to increase Dremio's competitive advantage. You will work on some of Dremio's core features including Gandiva, Apache Arrow integration, and SQL Operators. You will conduct deep analysis on Dremio's performance, root cause issues and design/implement solutions for these complex issues. You will grow as a leader through mentoring, collaborating with other developers and taking ownership of complex issues to deliver high quality distributed systems at a massive scale.
What you'll be doing
- Develops and debugs installed systems and infrastructure for the Dremio Cloud Services
- Develops Operating and upgrade procedures for installed systems and infrastructure.
- Defines customers, developers, and QA needs and functionality in a service development cycle.
- Assists in the coordination of various teams testing, building for the development of design and its implementation thru a Agile release cycle.
- Installs, configures, and tests operating systems, application software, and system management tools.
- Plans and implements system automation as required for better efficiency.
- Collaborates with other professionals to ensure high quality deliverable within guidelines, policies, and procedures.
- Deals with work process, optimization methods, and risk management tools in the given project like JIRA, Git, Code Coverage, test frameworks etc
What we're looking for
- B.S./M.S/Equivalent in Computer Science or a related technical field or equivalent experience
- programming and scripting proficiency: Java, Python, Bash (2-5 yrs)
- Public Cloud experience (GCP, AWS, Azure) (1-3 yrs)
- TCP/IP Network experience (VPN, DNS, Proxies, routes) (1-3 yrs)
- Experience with database (noSQL database like mongodb, rocksdb) (1-3 yrs)
- Experience with RDBMS like database and/or data warehouses, data lakes (comfortable with SQL) (1-3yrs)
- Experience with Redis Caching and Queuing deployments (1-3 yrs)
- Comfortable in tools like Jenkins and ArgoCD
- Kubernetes and Helm Charts experience required (1-3 yrs)
Bonus points if you have
- Hands on experience of multi-threaded and asynchronous programming models
- Hands on experience in query processing or optimization, distributed systems, concurrency control, data replication, code generation, networking, storage systems
- Hands on experience Java GC/heap management, Apache Arrow, SQL Operators, caching techniques, and disk spilling
