AssociateJob Description:
At Cloudera, we empower people to transform complex data into clear and actionable insights. With as much data under management as the hyperscalers, we're the preferred data partner for the top companies in almost every industry. Powered by the relentless innovation of the open source community, Cloudera advances digital transformation for the world’s largest enterprises.
Our global infrastructure underpins every facet of Cloudera’s business—from data-center operations to IaaS-delivered analytics. As an IC2 Network Engineer based in Santa Clara, you’ll be part of the small, high-impact team that keeps that foundation secure, performant, and ready for tomorrow’s growth.
This is a hybrid position with onsite presence in Santa Clara two to three days per week for hands-on work with network hardware, cabling, and vendor engagements, with remote work for the remaining days.
As a Network Engineer you will:
Build & improve – Design, deploy, and tune Layer 2/3 networks (Arista, Cisco/Meraki, Dell, Palo Alto) across data-center, lab, and office environments.
Operate at scale – Maintain high-capacity links (10 GbE – 100 GbE), routing protocols (BGP, OSPF), and firewall policies to meet strict latency and uptime targets.
Automate first – Use Ansible, Python, or Terraform to turn repetitive tasks into reproducible playbooks and CI/CD pipelines.
Incident first-responder – Tri-level troubleshooting (physical, logical, cloud edge) for P1/P2 events; rotate in a 24×7 on-call schedule.
Document & share – Keep diagrams, runbooks, and change records current so the wider Ops and SRE teams can move quickly.
Security mindset – Partner with InfoSec to harden configs, manage certs/keys, and remediate vulnerabilities with switch upgrades.
Difference between cables/ fibers and different connector types.
We’re excited about you if you have:
2-3 yrs enterprise/DC networking; Cisco/Meraki, Dell, Arista gear + Palo Alto firewalls & Cisco WLCs
Deep L2/L3 (Ethernet, VLAN, STP, BGP/OSPF), VPN & firewall expertise
Automation: Python, Ansible/Terraform (or similar)
Cloud: AWS/Azure/GCP (VPC, Direct Connect/ExpressRoute, TGW)
Self-starter, clear communicator, docs/runbooks pro; mentors juniors
Local to Santa Clara; willing to join 24×7 on-call rotation
Bonus certs: CCNA/CCNP/PCNSE
