Overview
The Benefits Manager is responsible for directing and planning the day-to-day operations to include responding to employee inquiries on group benefits programs (health, internal dental, vision, short-term and long-term disability, worker’s compensation, life insurance, critical illness and accident plans, and flexible spending accounts.) The benefits manager investigates new benefits programs, improves existing programs, and provides analytical and technical support in the delivery of the benefits programs. Serves as the contact person for employees and benefit vendors, in order to answer questions and resolve any potential issues.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
•Design and distribute materials for benefits orientation, employee education, open enrollment, health fairs, and summary plan descriptions (SPDs).
•Provide support to employees with any benefits related questions or concerns.
•Process and handle daily benefits transactions such as enrollments, COBRA, terminations, changes, beneficiaries, disability, accident and death claims, rollovers, distributions, compliance testing, and billing reconciliation.
•Process and administer all benefits plans.
•Coordinate transfer of data to external contracts for services, premiums and plan administration.
•Prepare and submit to finance, all benefits related invoices and payments received.
•Administer company’s wellness program.
•Administer company’s benefit portal.
•Determine best plan options by working with brokers and third-party administrators.
•Serve as primary contact for carriers and third-party plan administrators.
•Analyze benefits and evaluate use, services, coverage, effectiveness, cost, plan experience, competitive trends and benefits in programs; prepare regular analytical reports for use by management.
•Perform plan audits; investigate discrepancies and resolve them to ensure compliance.
•Work effectively to make plans run smoothly; evaluate and revise internal processes to reduce costs and increase efficiency; document and maintain administrative procedures of benefits processes.
•Ensure compliance with the Affordable Care Act (ACA), ERISA and other regulations.
•Prepare and submit timely and accurate regulatory filings to include Form 5500 and others.
•Develop long-range goals and objectives regarding benefits programs.
•Completes termination notices to all past employees in regards to COBRA and continuance of benefit plans.
•Process and evaluate yearly Workers’ Compensation renewal.
•Process and administer all Workers Compensation injuries and documentation.
•Additional projects and/or responsibilities as assigned.

•Proficient in Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
•Strong verbal and written communication skills required
•Capability of effective planning and priority setting
•Ability to understand, evaluate and make judgment on proposals
•Ability to manage several complex projects simultaneously while working under pressure to meet deadlines.
•Knowledge of all pertinent federal and state regulations, filing and compliance requirements, both adopted and pending, affecting employee benefits programs, including ERISA, COBRA and FMLA
•Ability to identify trends and provide solutions to enhance plan performance and satisfaction
•Ability to project manage
•Ability to manage contracted vendors
Qualifications (Experience, Education, Licensure, Certification)
•Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Business Administration or Human Resources preferred.
•Required 3 year(s) experience within an HR environment with direct hands on experience in Health & Welfare.
•Financial and analytical background preferred.
Working Conditions
Benefits Manager will work in areas that are highly visible and designed and furnished to make a good impression. Most work stations are clean, well-lighted, and relatively quiet. Work is primarily sedentary in nature.
