Coding and STEM Instructor for Kids

Who are we?

Code Ninjas is the nation’s fastest growing and largest kids coding franchise with over 600 locations in the US, Canada, and the UK. In our center, kids ages 7-14 learn to code in a fun, non-intimidating way – by playing and building video games they love. Kids have a blast and can’t wait to come back. Parents are thrilled as their children gain confidence and new skills including coding, math, logic, and problem-solving, as they progress from white to black belt. Our core promise is, Kids have fun, parents see results. We believe in these words so much that it’s written on the walls in our center.

The owners of the Irvine location are professionals in the tech, finance, consulting, insurance, and accounting fields. We hope to develop a long-term relationship with our employees. If possible, we will try to tailor your job responsibilities to help with your career goals.

What are we looking for?

We are looking for a Code Sensei (Instructor) to join our team of dynamic, energetic, forward thinking minds, working toward our common goal: providing a fun and safe learning environment for children. Our senseis are the lifeblood of our Code Ninjas center. This individual is reponsible for instruction and student engagement. Are you experienced in working with children? Do you enjoy teaching and building problem solving skills in young engineering minds? Have you mentored youth? This could be the role for you.

Responsibilities include:

  • Training – go through the curriculum and learn it to coach students and other senseis (instructors)
  • Create a positive and safe environment in which students can grow
  • Work with children to determine skill sets
  • Provide feedback to parents after working with student who is on a tour
  • Follow opening/closing duties daily
  • Report to Center Director with respect to day’s activities, efficiency & productivity in dojo

Qualifications:

  • College students or graduates (any STEM major or has STEM experience) or coding boot camp graduates are welcome to apply
  • Works well with others; collaborates. Brings enthusiasm and enjoys working with kids
  • Knowledgeable about coding and technology; or sharp enough to quickly pick up the basic concepts
  • Must be fun to work with and like working in fast paced environments where requirements can change frequently

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Work history with kids 7 and up (babysitting, mentoring, coaching, tutoring etc.)
  • Coding/Videogame Development Experience (esp. JavaScript, C#, Unity, Roblox)
  • Experience in teaching, mentoring and/or child care

Salary range: $16 to $19 an hour plus opportunities for growth based upon tenure and performance.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $16.00 - $19.00 per hour

COVID-19 considerations:
Masks, temperature checks, & social distancing are required. On a daily basis, we disinfect our laptops, keyboards, mice, and all door handles. The bathrooms undergo a major cleaning two days a week and a minor cleaning four days a week.

Ability to commute/relocate:

  • Irvine, CA: Reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work (Required)
