Summary: Codes and abstracts assigned lower level medical record accounts including specimens and specific clinic accounts. Production and accuracy must consistently meet the coding standard set for the lower level coding position which is required for reimbursement, indexing and statistical requirements of the hospital.

Requirements: Proof of completion of coding courses for a Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT), Or Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) program required (i.e.: HIM study courses, Medical Terminology, Anatomy/Human Biology, Basic ICD-10 CM coding, Basic CPT Coding, Clinical Classification Systems, Principles of Disease, Healthcare Management, Data Management, Computer system fundamentals or comparable courses to sit for certifications). Certification for RHIT or CCS to be completed within 1 year of hire. APC/EAPG knowledge preferred. Acute Care Hospital Coding experience preferred. 3M Encoder experience preferred. Cerner and Optum CAC System experience preferred.
