Coding Specialist

Summary
Responsible for abstracting, coding and/or verifying all inpatient and /or outpatient records according to established procedures and standards.
Education
Formalized coding education by an AHIMA and/or AAPC program required. Successful completion of medical terminology, anatomy and physiology and pathophysiology courses required.
Licensure/Certification
One of the following credentials: RHIA, RHIT, CCS, CCA, COC, CPC, or CCS-P required.
Experience
Preferred at least one year of acute care hospital coding experience, or two years’ experience in professional coding, which includes competence in using computerized abstracting and encoding system preferred.
Other Qualifications

• Ability to be detail-oriented and perform tasks at a high rate of accuracy.
• Good verbal and written communication skills.
• Must be available to work weekends.
• Good multitasking skills, willingness to learn, and on the job flexibility.

Schedule: Full Time Benefit Eligible, Days, 8:00-4:30
