This position is located in our San Juan office and offers a remote work opportunity.

The Collections team is a collaborative, supportive, and talented team of professionals who help the firm achieve targeted revenue.

Minimum Requirements:

High School Diploma
5 years of collections experience
Strong Microsoft Word and Excel skills
Bilingual language skills in English and Spanish
Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail
Strong communication skills required to interact with lawyers, clients, and staff on a regular basis
Must be a self-starter with solid organizational and time management skills

Preferred Requirements:

College degree or related course work in accounting/finance
Experience in a law firm or professional services organization
Aderant & ARCS experience

What will your day look like?
As a Collections Manager, you will work closely with Partners/Clients and assist the firm in meeting its monthly/yearly targeted cash revenue goals by executing client accounts, reporting, and/or internal processes regarding Accounts Receivable or aged WIP. The primary goal is to reduce the relative aging of client A/R through review, analysis, and communication with the attorney and clients.

You will regularly review, analyze, and work through all Client accounts assigned for the collection of AR. You will analyze assigned attorneys’ books of business to identify and resolve potential collection issues. You will work with assigned billing lawyers as needed to review accounts for AR, aged Work-in-Progress, and unallocated funds. You will also ensure payments are appropriately and efficiently allocated to proper accounts. You will contact clients, draft spreadsheets, formalize payment plans, and help negotiate settlements as required.

Additionally, you will produce customized collection reports from time to time and contribute to collection information from firm-wide reports as needed, such as the overall synopsis of the assigned books of business. You will prepare and report monthly projections of month-end collection results for the assigned book. You will also coordinate the collection and settlement of DLA Piper US invoices with DLA Piper international offices and support the approval of new matters that are flagged by New Business Intake due to excessive client A/R or WIP. You will escalate collection issues to senior management, assist with the resolution, and provide backup support to other collectors as needed.
