Division/Unit: Post-Conviction Justice Unit

Position Title: College Aide

Salary Range: $15.50/hour - $15.50/hour

Position Summary:

The New York County District Attorney's Office (DANY) has an immediate opening for a Part-time College Aide in its Post-Conviction Justice Unit. In this position, the person is responsible for providing administrative support to the unit. The Post-Conviction Justice Unit is responsible for investigating claims of innocence or wrongful conviction, facilitating services and support to exonerees, victims, and survivors, and promoting conviction integrity in future prosecutions.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Perform basic administrative and clerical functions to support the operations of the Post-Conviction Justice Unit.
  • Enter data into the unit’s proprietary Case Management database and compile statistical reports as requested.
  • Various additional assignments related to reinvestigations as requested, including assisting with managing and screening intake.
  • Answering phone calls, managing email inquiries, filing, copying, scanning and collating documents.
  • Perform related administrative and clerical duties as needed and assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Ability to learn in-house proprietary applications.
  • Ability to follow directions, work independently, and manage assignments.
  • Strong attention to detail and follow-up.
  • Dependable team player who works collaboratively and cooperatively with Office staff.

Educational Requirements:

  • Some college. Entering freshman though completion of sophomore year.

Preferred Requirements:

  • Bilingual Spanish a plus.
  • Public Notary a plus.
  • Knowledge of the criminal justice system a plus.

Commitment:

  • One (1) year commitment to hiring unit.
