The Trade Desk is a leading global advertising technology company that empowers advertisers with advanced tools to reach their target audience effectively. We are seeking a talented individual to join The Trade Desk as the Commercial Operations Director for the Western region. As a trusted business partner, you will work closely with the regional go-to-market leadership, providing strategic and tactical support for the Sales and Client Services Teams in Los Angeles, San Francisco, and Denver.

Reporting to the Head of NAMER Commercial Operations, you will play a vital role not only supporting Western commercial leaders, but as a part of a larger NAMER and global team. Your responsibilities will involve designing and delivering timely and business-critical data insights, driving the adoption of sales tools and processes, reviewing and advising on strategic deals, and contributing to long-term strategic projects.

Responsibilities:
  • Commercial Data Insights: Identify and translate data into actionable insights that answer key business questions, inform executive decision-making, and support strategic planning. Examples include weekly pacing reporting, pipeline reviews, revenue analytics, and business reviews. Provide actionable insights on business performance to drive productivity and disciplined management for sales and client services teams. Spearhead the development of new data insights for commercial teams across The Trade Desk.
  • Sales Tools and Process Enablement: Develop and drive the adoption and enablement of sales tools and processes, partnering with Commercial Training and Business Engineering to ensure teams have the necessary resources and training to maximize their efficiency and effectiveness. Continuously assess and improve these tools and processes to enhance operational impact and efficiency.

  • Strategic Deal Review: Facilitate and advise on strategic deals, working closely with cross-functional teams to evaluate and provide recommendations. Ensure alignment with the company's strategic objectives and optimize deal structures to drive revenue growth. Partner with cross-functional teams to stand-up deal-structuring best practices and deal performance tracking.

  • Long-Term Strategic Projects: Lead and execute on specific long-term strategic projects that impact the North America Commercial Operations function and broader organizational goals. Collaborate with various teams including Finance, Legal, Product & Engineering, and Commercial Training to drive successful project outcomes.

Who You Are:
  • Business Acumen and Consultative Approach: Demonstrated experience in driving productivity and disciplined management for sales and/or client service teams. Strong business and emotional intelligence with the ability to deliver insights and build consultative, objective business partnerships. Excellent analytical skills, problem-solving abilities, and attention to detail.

  • Grit and Agility: Proven track record in tackling complex, cross-functional challenges in a fast-growing business environment. Ability to operate at both executive and tactical levels. Hands-on mentality with a focus on troubleshooting details and effectively marshalling resources to achieve objectives. Able to anticipate leadership needs and driving initiatives autonomously.

  • Openness & Change Management: Experience driving and managing change in a fluid growth environment. Able to influence through actions and results rather than authority. Expert in managing concurrent initiatives in complex matrixed environments and make actionable decisions in the absence of perfect information and shifting circumstances. Comfortable working with a high degree of ambiguity.

Required Experience:
  • 9+ years of work experience in sales operations and/or client service operations & strategy function. AdTech or SaaS industry experience preferred.
  • Strong analytical mindset with experience in data analysis and reporting. Skilled in Excel/Google Sheets (pivot tables, lookups, arrays, some modeling).
  • Solid understanding of sales tech stacks and tools such as CRM systems, BI applications (e.g., Tableau), and sales planning tools (e.g., Anaplan).
  • Deep experience in leading the design and scaling of business processes using multiple tools. Strong understanding of various tools and technologies used to optimize and streamline business processes.
  • Proven ability to build relationships and effectively communicate with senior commercial and cross-functional leaders. Experience driving change and leading through influence in a matrixed environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to execute strategically and drive projects from conception to completion.
