Communications and Project Management Specialist

What You'll Do:

1. Plan and execute marketing and communications initiatives and projects to support Piper Center team members or increase engagement with Piper Center programming

  • Website and Digital Communications
    • Update and create web content about events, job search, and best practices
  • Graphic Design and Print Materials
    • Create or review graphics, posters and other print materials
  • Email/Text Outreach
    • Draft, edit and/or coordinate emails and text campaigns to students and alumni about events, jobs, internships, and other opportunities
    • Manage the Piper Center email inbox
  • Social Media
    • Collaborate with St. Olaf Marketing and Communications to create content for St. Olaf social media channels
    • Manage video projects to highlight resources and opportunities

2. Manage events and projects in coordination with other members of the Piper Center team

  • Ensure events and projects are completed by helping to develop a plan, maintaining ongoing communication with stakeholders and monitoring progress

3. Manage the student operations team

  • Hire, train, supervise, and mentor a team of students that supports communication and operational needs
  • Support student workers through one-on-one and team meetings

4. Provide general operational and data support

  • Address operational needs as they arise; seek opportunities to innovate and create more efficient operational and technology systems
  • Assist with scheduling meetings, ordering supplies, thanking volunteers, etc.
  • Oversee the “front of house” hospitality when Peer Advisors are unavailable
  • Oversee and assist with data entry of information about students, jobs, alumni/parents, and employers

5. Support, respect, and commit to embracing diverse backgrounds, values, and points of view to build a strong and inclusive community
6. Complete and meet deadlines for required training and performance management cycle
7. Perform other duties as assigned

Work Schedule:
Term: Year-round
Shift: August-May, 40 hours per week, hours to be worked between Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m.- 5:00 p.m.; with occasional evening and weekend hours; travel up to 2% of the work schedule, which includes local (Twin Cities metro area); 4 weeks unpaid leave to be used in June and/or July.

Who You Are:
Education: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience
Experience: 1+ years of marketing and communications or project management experience, or similar relevant experience

Preferred Qualifications:

Education: Bachelor’s degree
Experience: 2+ years of experience with marketing and communications, project management,
and office management; some experience in higher education, including experience
supervising students.
