COMMUNICATIONS ASSISTANT, Media Lab (part-time, 20 hrs/wk.), to assist the communications team with daily tasks. Will edit and proofread routine website content, newsletters, blog posts, social media posts, and other text and collateral; assist the lead designer with basic design tasks; assist with coordinating press visits and escorting film crews/press; interface with vendors; manage day-to-day spending for the group (e.g., reconcile expenses, reimbursements, purchase orders, and contracts; independent contractor coordination, financial review and control reports, etc.); monitor use of MIT procurement and travel credit cards; and perform other administrative tasks as needed.

Job Requirements

REQUIRED: high school diploma or its equivalent; at least three years of administrative, office, or related experience; excellent interpersonal skills and comfort speaking to groups (5-20 people); excellent time management and project management abilities; understanding of Media Lab research and ability to relay a basic understanding to others; excellent proofreading and verbal and written communications skills; and attention to detail. PREFERRED: bachelor's degree; excellent collaboration skills and ability to contribute as part of a team; comfort working in a highly diverse and international environment and ability to build productive working relationships with a wide range of people; tact and good judgment when handling confidential information; and basic video editing and production (Premiere Pro, AfterEffects, QuickTime, YouTube) skills.
