SUMMARY DESCRIPTION:
Under the guidance of the director of the Division of Family and Community Engagement supports communications efforts of the Office of Student and Family Support and Engagement using web-based, graphic and print materials. Coordinates support for ASK MCPS calls and e-mails and be able to assist in training office staff in the use of communication tools that are computer-based. Provides innovative and effective approaches to improve service to customers. Exercises considerable initiative to resolve problems and to anticipate and respond professionally to all queries.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, and ABILITIES:
Working knowledge of organizational communications and Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS) organizational structure. Ability to analyze quantitative data reports; proficiency with presentation software such as PowerPoint, Keynote, and others. Ability to perform complex word processing, and data entry/extraction. Ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced office, and quickly respond to communication needs including the web site/ Ability to develop simple, user friendly communication tools and processes. . Excellent interpersonal, human relations, oral and written communication skills required. Ability to use resourcefulness and tact, recognizing established precedents and practices when making decisions and solving problems. Knowledge of the seven core competencies of the Supporting Services Professional Growth System (SSPGS).
EDUCATION, TRAINING, and EXPERIENCE:
High School or GED diploma required. Associates degree or bachelors degree preferred. Minimum five years of progressively more responsible experience, three of which shall have been in the administrative support class in a school or central office setting. Completion of some college coursework in web publishing/design or business related courses desirable. Training and experience in office computing software applications and developing/updating web pages for three or more years. Other combinations of applicable education, training, and experience which provide the knowledge, abilities, and skills necessary to perform effectively in the position may be considered.
