Key responsibilities include:

Act as a strategic communications partner to help Ameren departments meet their goals and objectives. Specific responsibilities include providing support for the following areas:

Public affairs/legislative communications
-
Clean energy transition
-
Regulatory, including rate adjustments and other regulatory filings
-
Building, cultivating, and managing stakeholder relationships
-
Other Ameren campaigns or program opportunities and investments that benefit customers
- Protect and enhance the company’s reputation by conducting effective public and media relations and providing backup support for corporate issues and projects.
- Maintain positive relationships with editors, news directors and key journalists to promote accurate, unbiased coverage.
- Provide public, media and community relations counsel to corporate officials and other personnel, to ensure that company messages are consistent and communicated effectively.
- Develop and assist in implementing strategic communications plans to enhance the company’s image and reputation through effective messaging and follow-up.
- Manage communications during crisis events such as storms and safety incidents. Requires working outside of standard business hours.
- Coordinate and conduct special communications projects, such as development of exhibits and displays, fact sheets, brochures, newspaper inserts, and content for the corporate Web site.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university required. Five or more years of relevant experience in Journalism or public relations experience required. Project management experience required. Specific experience in media and public relations in the electric and natural gas utility industry is preferred. Degree in Public Relations, Journalism, or Political Science strongly preferred. Master’s Degree preferred. .
In addition to the above qualifications, the successful candidate will demonstrate:
Proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite of applications; Demonstrated proficiency in speech and written communications; Thorough understanding of how the media operates; Proficiency serving as an interviewee for journalists; Proficiency in advising senior management in media, public and community relations; Strong working knowledge of the legislative and political environments in Illinois; and the following Ameren competencies: Think Customer, Inspire and Engage, Foster Innovation, Drive Results, Champion Learning, Build Trust, and Be Strategic.
