Job Summary
Boston Fed’s Regional & Community Outreach (RCO) department supports the Federal Reserve’s mission to promote sound growth and financial stability in New England and the nation. We do this by engaging our diverse communities and the broader economic ecosystem to ensure full economic participation for people earning low and moderate incomes. This position is within RCO’s Strategic Engagement Team (SET), which is launching two bodies of work: (1) Supporting Boston Fed and the broader system in centering the opportunities and challenges for LMI in our design and planning for financial services systems and policies; (2) Creating a Solutions Accelerator to design and launch innovative tools for building and retaining wealth for all communities. As the Community Development Analyst, you will conduct data analysis, engage external partners and local communities, and produce content that informs changes in organizational practices, public policy, regulations, and systems that impact our communities. You will contribute to mission-critical work, learn from experts in the field, and interact with diverse and talented staff. This position provides a unique opportunity to work at the intersection of financial services, community & economic development, and technology.
Principal Accountabilities

Conduct targeted data analysis to propose new ideas or identify key risks or gaps in current thinking.

Create, clean, and format datasets for analyses (including but not limited to descriptive and inferential statistical analysis).

Catalog and incorporate data into analytical workflows. Perform quality checks.

Develop formal presentations and data-visualization content to inform internal decision making and communicate key findings to external audiences.

Support the convening of key stakeholders to share ideas, inform key decisions, and mobilize action.

Build and lead effective partnerships among internal and external stakeholders to implement solutions, track results, and remain responsive to market feedback.

Work with community development staff at other Federal Reserve Banks to inform one another and collaborate on joint efforts (when appropriate).
Other Accountabilities

Develop expertise with the payments industry and apply that knowledge into developing data insights that will be critical to decision-making.

Develop expertise with the economic development field in New England and work to understand what data analysis may be most useful to practitioners working on issues in low- and moderate-income communities.

Support the SET unit and the broader department with additional data, research, and insights as needed.
Supervision
Not required to supervise other staff.
Knowledge and Experience
Knowledge and experience typically acquired through a Bachelor’s degree in public policy, finance, economics, or related field from an accredited academic institution or 5 years of experience working as an analyst or program manager in a related field.

Experience analyzing complex and varied qualitative and quantitative information to make strategic proposals and inform key decisions, including descriptive and inferential statistics; ability to prepare data for analysis and workflows; familiarity with data visualization.

Demonstrated ability to work effectively and build partnerships with diverse stakeholders, including research institutions, non-profits, foundations, government, and the private sector, as well as with individuals at all levels of an organization; and

Ability to speak and write effectively, including communicating complicated issues in an easily understood manner, and the ability to translate research into accessible information to practitioners and the general public;
The Regional & Community Outreach Department collaborates actively with regional stakeholders and across internal functions. As such, we require in-office or in-field work a minimum of 8 days per month for this position.
