Compensation Analyst

Embark Trucks is America's Longest-Running Self-Driving Truck Program and is bringing autonomous freight mainstream. As covered by the Wall Street Journal, CNBC, Forbes, TechCrunch and and other outlets, Embark went public via a ~$5 billion SPAC deal in November 2021, and is listed on Nasdaq under the symbol EMBK. Embark is headquartered in San Francisco, CA with operations centers in Fontana, CA and Houston, TX, moving freight daily using our purpose-built transfer hubs. Embark has aligned itself with truck manufacturers, shippers, and carriers to integrate our technology into the freight ecosystem, pursuing a business model where fleets own and operate Embark trucks. This is an incredibly exciting time for autonomous vehicles and our team is looking to grow.

The Compensation Analyst will be responsible for building and executing a compensation strategy that enables Embark to bring together a competitive total compensation framework. They will work closely with leaders across the org to communicate strategy and policy. The self-driving industry is extremely competitive so staying current with market data, competitor data, and general market trends is important to building and maintaining a holistic compensation strategy. This role will report to our Head of People to start.

Projects Will Include:

    • Apply data-driven compensation frameworks across the entire org (engineering, operations, business functions)
    • Support senior leadership in providing compensation data and recommendations for hiring and merit cycles
    • Keep internal compensation frameworks up to date by reference to third party salary surveys and other information reflecting market compensation trends across the broader tech ecosystem
    • Make recommendations regarding equity refreshes and other equity-related questions
    • Serve as a point of contract for employees on compensation and equity related matters and for recruiting on offer negotiations
    • Assist with the creation of compensation ladders for new job roles and families
    • Partner closely with recruiting to offer competitive compensation and hire top talent
    • Support finance on reporting and tracking compensation-related expense

Experience Should Include:

    • Bachelor's degree or related experience (quantitative field preferred)
    • 5+ years of experience in the compensation field or related experience within HR
    • Experience applying existing compensation frameworks to new roles
    • Strong analytical skills and data driven decision making experience
    • Experience with the review and analysis of datasets provided by reputable third party compensation agencies
    • Strong understanding of equity
    • Experience maintaining highly sensitive information confidential
    • Experience at high-growth tech companies is a plus
