Kepler is on a Mission to bring the internet to space. Incorporated in 2015, Kepler’s guiding star is to enable the space economy through the creation of a communication network in Low Earth Orbit (LEO) that will provide connectivity services to other space missions, be they on orbit in LEO, MEO, GEO, or beyond. With an expanding base of early customers and our first 19 satellites in orbit, Kepler is continuing to grow and expand its most important asset – the Team! Based out of our HQ in Toronto and with an office in the UK and a newly formed office in the US we are building towards a truly global company delivering a product for the whole world.
We are on the hunt for an experienced Competitive and Market Intelligence Analyst to work within the Technology Office at Kepler to build a deep technical and strategic understanding of the competitive landscape and future technology opportunities. This role requires a researcher mentality with an ability to ask the right question, seek out information from all sources, and craft seemingly disparate pieces of data into actionable insights. Work collaboratively to collect, synthesize, and provide analysis for a weekly written brief that summarizes key industry events.
Responsibilties:
Maintains an in-depth knowledge of designated markets and trends through reading reports, market research, data manipulation and financial modeling and analysis.
Monitors and retrieves relevant data from all sources including industry periodicals like Nielsen, Space News, Owler, and relevant government data sources.
Creates and updates comprehensive industry, competitor and customer models including, but not limited to, market share, growth projections and trends, and market forces.
Performs financial, statistical, and qualitative data analysis of markets and competitors.
Develops multiple views and combine them into dashboards for interactivity by providing Quick Filter and Parameters for further data drilling capability.
Measures and illustrates market trends and prepares monthly executive summary briefings to arm leadership with the relevant data to continuously make strategic decisions.
Within the first 6 months, supports the CTO office and product management team by producing data driven competitive reports in the form of interactive dashboards.
Supports leadership in talks, keynotes or panels with data to ensure leadership is equipped with the latest market information.
Presents a 'quarterly opportunities' presentation with data driven suggestions on where Kepler can invest time and money to successfully reach its BHAG.
Requirements:
Bachelor or master’s degree, or equivalent, in engineering, technical or data related field.
1+ years of professional experience, preferably competitive intelligence, product strategy, product marketing or business consulting; or an equivalent combination of education and work-related experience.
Able to operate effectively within a team environment.
High level of competence with Microsoft Office suite (in particular, advanced Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint skills) is essential.
Inquisitive and tendency to think outside the box with regards to sources, methods, and solutions.
Excellent research and analysis skills.
Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication and presentation skills.
Experience with PowerBI, Google Data Studio, Plotly, or similar.
Bonus Points:
Experience in market intelligence for Space.
Project Management experience.
Experience with economic data sets.
Proficiency in Python.
Participated on a design team i.e.: rocket team, satellite team, or other relevant team.
