Compliance Manager

Overview:
Compensation: $88,000 - $148,000 based on experience and credentials
Schedule: Monday through Friday 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM (flexible hybrid)
The Compliance Manager oversees the development and management of the compliance program. This role is vital to ensuring Suncoast Credit Union is compliant with all applicable laws and regulations. This individual will proactively identify opportunities to prevent violations. Furthermore, this role will provide regulatory guidance and strategize with business units throughout the credit union.

Responsibilities:
  • Monitor progress to ensure area goals are met and high-quality member service is maintained
  • Collaborate with the Vice President to establish performance goals for the compliance department and each staff member
  • Cultivate a strong team by building trust among the members
  • Conduct quarterly audits on the compliance management process
  • Prepare reports for GRC and ERM Committees
  • Participate in regulatory compliance exams, including those conducted by the National Credit Union Administration, independent auditors, internal auditors, or other required examinations
  • Oversee the business unit evaluations and compliance risk assessments to adequately assess controls and mitigate compliance risk within the credit union
  • Report, review, and interpret changes to federal or state regulations and laws
  • Collaborate with each business unit to ensure procedures and processes are updated to comply with new regulatory requirements
  • Collaborate with the Learning and Development Department to review required compliance courses and assign them based on job functionality
  • Review audit of completion, prepare and report status to senior management on a regular basis and to the supervisory committee annually
  • Review all policies to verify they are set within parameters and prepare outcome reports for senior staff board committees on a quarterly basis
  • Ensure all credit union policies are up to date and have received board approval within the required timeframe
  • Provide an updated schedule for policy reviews to policy owners, senior staff, and board committee
  • Review and recommend new methods or procedures to make daily operations more efficient
  • Set goals and objectives for team members, guide staff in developing action plans to reach stated goals
  • Hire, train, coach, appraise, and reward staff, acknowledge staff feedback or concerns
  • Assist senior management with developing and implementing long-term and short-term business objectives
  • Develop, monitor, and maintain department budget in cooperation with senior management
  • Assist senior management with regulatory compliance to ensure the credit union is in accordance with applicable laws and government regulations
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in business or compliance-related field (A comparable combination of work experience and training may be substituted for education requirements. Active pursuit of a bachelor’s degree or PCUE designation also is acceptable.)
  • 7+ years of progressively responsible experience in BSA/AML monitoring and investigations with a financial institution
  • Credit Union Compliance Expert (CUCE) or NAFCU Certified Compliance Officer (NCCO) designation preferred
  • Previous management or supervisory experience desired
  • Must exercise logical reasoning and independent discretion in all areas of responsibility
  • Must be able to maintain a high level of confidentiality
  • Strong organization, prioritization, analytical, and problem-solving skills to effectively manage areas of responsibility and attain goals
  • Ability to analyze and resolve complex problems
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of regulatory compliance necessary to successfully perform job responsibilities
  • Strong communication skills (written, verbal and interpersonal skills) to interact effectively with members, staff, vendors, and government regulators
  • Ability to communicate policies, practices, and procedures for direct reports and other stakeholders to understand
