Component Processing Technician - Donor Operations

JOB SPECIFIC COMPETENCIES

Blood Component Manufacturing
  • The supervisor ensures productions goals are met for the collection and manufacturing of blood components.
  • Ensures customized manufacturing production (examples: plateletpheresis culturing...).
  • Ensures labeling, storage, and distribution meets or exceed guidelines and production goals.
  • Takes lead role in completion of assigned projects.
  • Ensure daily functions of the laboratory including data/records management, inventory management, ordering /logging supplies and reagents, cleaning, and ancillary office and administrative functions.

Quality Assurance/Quality Control
  • Work with the Quality Unit to ensure regulatory preparedness at all times.
  • Participate in the development, coordination and implementation of policies and procedures.
  • Perform procedures and maintain accurate documentation in compliance with current Good Manufacturing Practice and accreditation agency standards, (FDA, AABB, CAP and CLIA).
  • Document deviations and assist in the investigation of the cause and any required corrective actions.
  • Participate in the development and implementation of quality/ process improvement projects.

Human Resources/Training/Education
  • Perform supervision duties including, but not limited to, training, orientation, competency assessments and performance evaluations.
  • Supervise the collection and component manufacturing personnel in the laboratory, organizing and prioritizing activities to maximize production rates and all related paperwork is completed.
  • Serve as a technical resource for internal and external customers.

High school diploma or equivalent. One year of experience in a blood donor center or component laboratory. With preferred degree, no experience required.
