Composites Engineer

The successful candidate will be working at the leading edge in composites. The engineer in this position will be forming and characterizing composites for our customers through advanced composites test methods. This is a fast-paced customer driven position.

Position Responsibilities:

Utilize background in thermoplastic or thermoset composites for mechanical performance characterization.
Design, optimize and troubleshoot materials formulations for customer driven formulations.
Modify and enhance the rheology and stability of composite dispersions.
Design new processes to establish step-change materials innovation utilizing state-of-the-art thermal analysis techniques, spectroscopic techniques, and microscopy.
Work independently, as well as with other team members within laboratory setting.
Test various graphene morphologies and determine their effect on material properties.
Develop intellectual property around innovations in composite materials.
Report developments and strategies across cross-functional groups within the company.
Must be able to create and present R&D reports and memoranda for presentation to management.
Self-motivated and safety conscious.

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor's engineering degree is required at a minimum.
At least three years of experience in an industrial laboratory area relevant to the job's assignment.
Expertise in mechanical properties testing. Knowledge of relevant ASTM standards.
Background in forming of thermoset composite structures.
Significant knowledge in structure-property relationships in materials. Hands-on experience in metrology and materials characterization, surface analysis, chemical, electrical, mechanical, elemental..

Preferred Requirements

Knowledge of lay-up methodologies
Experience in carbon fiber

Physical requirements:

Must be able to lift 20 lbs.

The expected base salary range for this position is between $109,000 - $156,000. The level of pay within the range will depend on a variety of job-related factors that may include, location, relevant prior experience and/or education, or particular skills and expertise.

This compensation and benefits information is based on Lyten's estimate as of the date of publication and may be modified in the future. We generally do not negotiate on salary once we've made an offer. The level of pay within the range will depend on a variety of job-related factors that may include location, relevant prior experience and/or education, or particular skills and expertise. New hires joining the company tend to be paid within the starting base pay range noted above, with opportunities to increase pay over time based on development of additional skills, competencies, and company-specific knowledge.

In addition to base pay this position is eligible for tier based bonus and equity, healthcare, dental, vision, corporate discounts, paid holidays, PTO and sick time, 401K, employee relocation plan (if applicable)
