Within the first three months of commencing employment, undergoing a Clinical Orientation and Competency Evaluation, and proving proficiency during a Clinical Skills Assessment and Medication Administration exam is compulsory, and employees are allowed to take each test only thrice
Responsibilities:
Performs patient pre-op and post-op procedures, prepares the patient for surgery, and provides instruction to patients and their families regarding surgical procedures. Assists in effective communication between surgical team members before, during, and after a surgical procedure. Documents all surgical activities and patient procedures as dictated or required.
With guidance from overseeing physicians, can distribute medications orally or through injection, with the exception of intravenous injections. This includes immunizations, controlled substances, therapeutic injections, as well as skin tests and treatments, along with other treatment methods that follow medical assisting regulations and established policies and procedures. Records all administrations punctually and accurately. Additionally, may complete prior authorizations for medications and must effectively communicate physician prescriptions to pharmacies either via phone or fax when necessary.
Assists in the upkeep and organization of medical equipment, exam rooms, and laundry by regularly restocking and cleaning up these areas. Committed to practicing the tenets of infection control, universal precautions, and OSHA, JCAHO, and Hazardous Material guidelines for creating a healthy and safe work environment.

This position involves responding to and routing incoming phone calls, screening them as necessary, and taking and passing on messages when appropriate
In emergency situations, patients are given priority when receiving test results.
Transmits information about the patient's health status, inquiries, and apprehensions to the nursing team
Through a triage system, incoming messages are promptly addressed by the appropriate personnel appropriately.
It is the duty of the medical assistant to document all medical procedures meticulously in the medical record, ensuring the accuracy and completeness of patient information.
Qualifications:
• High School Diploma or equivalent, Required
• Medical assistant program preferred.
EXPERIENCE:
• 2, Healthcare - Certified Medical Assistant (CMA), Preferred
LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION/REGISTRY/LISTING:REQUIRED
BLS (CPR)-American Red Cross or AHA Healthcare Provider
Required:
Current and active certification as a medical assistant by one of the following:
American Allied Health (AAH), American Associate of Medical Assistants (AAMA), American Medical Certification Association (AMCA), American Medical Technologists (AMT), National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT), National Healthcareer Association (NHA), American Registry of Medical Assistants (RMA), National Healthcare Worker's Association (NHCWA), National Association for Health Professionals (NAHP), National Registry of Medical Assistants (NRMA).
Must maintain current CPR certification and medical assistant certification without lapse.
