Customer Service Rep (Medical Billing/Patient Accounts)

Overview:The Customer Service Representative is responsible for promptly and politely addressing incoming phone calls, handling customer inquiries, and ensuring that customer needs are met while upholding collection processes, policies, and procedures. This role operates with oversight and is tasked with arranging prompt patient payments either post-insurance or as an alternative to reduce outstanding debts and streamline reimbursement procedures.Responsibilities:Responds to patient inquiries promptly to resolve account problems and offer precise details regarding account status, payments, rejections, compensations, and patient balances, to support effective account supervision.Engages in persistent payment follow-ups during patient calls to secure prompt revenue collection.Records interactions to aid in maintaining accurate documentation and effective communication within the revenue cycle, verifying the precision of patient demographic and billing information, rectifying any insurance carrier errors as needed to enhance the accuracy of patient records and billing processes.Clarifies credit and collections details to relevant individuals and suggests appropriate payment choices depending on the situation to promote comprehension and cooperation.Ensures compliance with corporate regulations, such as the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), when engaging to safeguard patient confidentiality and adhere to legal protocols.Ensures adequate quality and productivity thresholds are met and alerts the supervisor about possible concerns to avoid payment delays or higher rejection rates.Takes on additional responsibilities as needed.Qualifications:EDUCATION:Required:• High School Diploma or equivalentEXPERIENCE:Required: 1 YearLICENSURE/CERTIFICATION/REGISTRY/LISTING:REQUIRED
