Overview:When caring for neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients, the NC Nurse Practice Act requires that nurses assess patient needs, plan interventions, implement and document care, organize priorities, delegate tasks, supervise staff, and collaborate with other healthcare providers to develop comprehensive care plans.Responsibilities:The nursing process is implemented by the nurse to deliver care, which includes gathering and analyzing relevant patient and medical data. They conduct admission assessments and continuous evaluations in partnership with patients, their loved ones, and healthcare professionals. A unique care plan is created for each patient, taking into account their specific age-based prerequisites. The nurse detects any deviations from the plan and makes the required modifications based on the effectiveness of nursing interventions. They maintain a comprehensive document and make sure every concerned party stays up to date on the situation. The nurse also plays a part in identifying home health care requirements for discharge planning, monitors changes in patients' status, and applies advanced skills and critical thinking in their daily duties. Additionally, they pinpoint and address educational needs for patients and their loved ones.Recognizes obstacles to communication and devises plans to address them in order to create a caring dialogue with patients and significant others.This person is committed to promoting evidence-based practice, research, and quality improvement. They understand the significance of Shared Governance principles and accountabilities and actively support their department's Shared Governance council as a member or by keeping informed about council activities and endorsing council decisions.Using a combination of Quality Improvement (QI), Evidence-Based Practice (EBP), and Research techniques, they work towards promoting the department's performance. Their resource management skills enable them to identify opportunities for improvement and optimize departmental operations. They acquire data related to QI, EBP, and research, and perform a detailed analysis in conjunction with their colleagues. The outcomes of their analysis inform the development of action plans, which form a part of their regular workflow. They actively strive to maintain compliance with regulatory guidelines set by The Joint Commission (TJC), the Department of Financial Services (DFS), and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA).Plays a fundamental role in creating and supporting a culture of learning, growth, and professional development within the workplace.Uses negotiation skills to mitigate conflicts and promote a healthy working environment in which personnel feel valued and respected.Qualifications:EDUCATION:Required:Associates Degree in Nursing (ADN)Preferred:Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)EXPERIENCE:Required:New RN Graduates: Acceptance into Cone Health New Graduate program or completion of an acute care new graduate program.Preferred:Experienced RN : One year of Acute Care RN experience is preferred. Hiring leader may consider other RN experience at their discretion.LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION/REGISTRY/LISTING:REQUIREDRN | Registered Nurse licensed in North Carolina or a Compact state.BLS (CPR)-American Red Cross or AHA Healthcare ProviderPREFERREDThe following certifications are preferred and may be required within a certain timeframe of hire as defined by the specific nursing unit.• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)• Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP)• Critical Care Registered Nurse (CCRN)• Safe Training and Responsible Restraints (STARR)
