About us Accounts Receivable/Accounting Clerk (Hempstead, N.Y... Family-owned nationwide wholesale distributor of medical-surgical products seeks a qualified general accounting clerk to perform a variety of accounting duties: collections, customer payment communications, daily order entry & customer invoicing, international business and trade-show assistance, and other accounting & sales-related duties as required. Ability to speak and write in professional business English required and business Spanish preferred, but not required. Office hours are 8:30AM-5:00PM – Monday-Friday. No weekend hours, unless required by management. Office has front parking and rear parking lot, is accessible by Nassau NICE Bus (MMCS or N16 line, nearest stop is South Franklin St. & Grove St), 30 min walk from Hempstead LIRR stations. This is an accounting, cash management and customer communication position in a small business. The position reports directly to the company accountant, is highly visible and interacts with all levels of the organization. You are expected to anticipate the needs of multiple stakeholders and prepare, communicate, and execute your tasks with the entire organization and our customers with professionalism and respect. Candidate must have a strong command of Excel and how it is used in an accounting setting. Minimum starting pay rate: $30.00/hour – minimum 40-hour work week, OT eligible with mgmt approval - This is NOT a remote-capable position Medical, Two Weeks Paid Vacation & Sick Time (including company-wide holidays), overtime and annual year-end bonus-eligibility offered – Breakfast provided daily Pay based on experience and applicable skills – temp-to-perm position – 90-day probation period observed prior to benefits enrollment Send your current resume including at least 2 work-related references (references no later than 6 months old) to: jobs @ finesurgical.com Basic Requirements: • 4-year degree in Accounting (B. Sc.) from an accredited U.S. college preferred; bookkeeping experience required • 5 years of experience as an accountant or bookkeeper professional preferred • Knowledge of general accounting principles expected – confidentiality of all business-related information absolutely required • Timeliness to work with a strong attendance Monday-Friday 8:30AM EST – 5:00PM EST required, and is monitored by management • Mature demeanor and communication ability in the workplace required, must follow orders and complete tasks as assigned on time • Must always use workplace-appropriate verbal and written language with customers, co-workers, and management • Ability to speak and write in fluent business Spanish & English preferred. Spanish communication (written & spoken) will be tested • Working knowledge of typical accounting software processes preferred: Journal Entries, G/L Research, Pmts, Invoicing, Sales Order Entry • Strong working knowledge of standard office applications absolutely required: Microsoft Excel (VLookup, Filters, IF, Sum, and other formulas; Pivot Tables preferred) (will be tested), Adobe PDF, Microsoft Word Basic math skills required -- addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division (you will be tested during the interview) Job Duties & Expectations: o Comfort and familiarity with Microsoft Excel (basic to intermediate formulas, tables, filters, and ability to analyze transaction data expected) o Comfort and familiarity on phone calls with customers/vendors, must have good phone call and email follow-up skills; you must call & email o Collect & post checks from daily mail and emails/ACH on time, issue credits & debits using email & accounting software, prepare daily bank deposits, perform customer credit card charges and refunds o Daily phone calls and e-mails to domestic & international customers to negotiate and collect current and any overdue payments o Daily sales order entry, invoicing, adjustments and updating of inventory items, item costs & prices, and other data entry tasks as required o Produce weekly/monthly domestic & international payments report using accounting software, monitor and advise customer account balances o Assist Accountant with typical A/R-A/P tasks: month-end closing, payment research/follow-up, corporate A/R & A/P communications o Assist international sales department (Spanish-speaking markets) with sales quotes, inquiries, returns, follow-ups o Regularly communicate with sales and warehouse staff any delinquent accounts, advise customers on delinquencies o Check and replenish office and warehouse supplies as needed o Must attend annual Summer Miami Beach, Florida tradeshow when required (assist in booth setup/breakdown, customer interactions, inventory management, tendering cash, and credit card sales) o Must be present during the accounting closing week (first and last week of every month) o Complete general accounting, reporting and other office and general tasks & duties as needed Strong anticipation, organization, and communication skills with superb research, follow-up and follow-through, and note-taking abilities. Candidate must have a preparation mindset, plan & execute all tasks as required with quality, accuracy and timeliness Candidate must prefer accountancy as a profession, and possess the personality traits, skills and behavior that are expected with this role.
