Job Description:
Broadstep Behavioral Health Inc. is seeking a Certified Peer Support Specialist to serve as the leader of our treatment team that provides direct clinical care to adults and children in our community based and in-home care programs in North Carolina. This position works closely with other clinical members of a defined team and serves an integral role in the treatment of patients in the behavioral health continuum.

DUTIES AND REPONSIBILITIES:
Identify with consumers as a person in mental health recovery in a manner that is supportive and encouraging;
Establish supportive, therapeutic rapport with the service recipients;
Communicate and provide information as to the purpose of peer support and recovery models;
Intentionally share their Recovery Story as appropriate to assist service recipients, providing hope, safety, trust and opportunity in promoting adaptive life skill and behaviors;
Assist and support persons in crisis to explore options that may be beneficial to their recovery and to maintaining stability;
Surround service recipients in recovery, wellness, and hope;
Focus positively with service recipients on emotional growth, strengths, and life (recovery) goals;
Assist case managers in providing specialized assistance and support to specific consumers as assigned. For example, assisting consumers with activities, appointments, and identifying appropriate community resources;
With regards to demonstrating confidentiality, the Certified Peer Specialist will:
Be familiar with and follow all Wisconsin and company regulations and directives relating to confidentiality;
Maintain the utmost confidence at all times concerning all verbal and written information whether obtained from service recipients or otherwise;
Be knowledgeable of information that should not be kept in confidence; threats to harm self or others, and know how to handle these situations;
Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
The CPS will have successfully completed CPS Training in Mental Health Supports and successfully passed the State certification exam.
HS diploma or GED Equivalent (preferred).
Must possess a valid, regular (non-probationary) state driver’s license, vehicle insurance, and access to a car to utilize for the position.
minimum of 1 year experience working with population (preferred).
Mental health resources, group facilitation/co-facilitation and Wellness Recovery Action Plan development experience (preferred).
