Job Title: Principal Network EngineerJob Description:Join our dynamic team as a Principal Network Engineer, where you’ll play a pivotal role in a critical digital modernization program for Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) and Department of Defense (DoD) Fourth Estate Agencies. In this role, you’ll design, develop, configure, and deploy cutting-edge network services within the Azure Cloud and data centers to meet end-user requirements.Primary Responsibilities:\tLead and Innovate: Provide thought leadership to a team of network engineers, identifying opportunities for improvement and innovation to enhance user experience, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness.\tNetwork Design and Operation: Design, maintain, and operate Wireless and Local Area Networks (LANs/WLAN) and Wide Area Networks (WANs) using Infrastructure as Code and Ansible Automation Platform.\tIPv6 Migration: Lead the migration of DISA and other DoD organizations to IPv6.\tAutomation: Automate network changes across various vendor platforms and Azure Cloud.\tArchitectural Input: Contribute to the design of the enterprise’s network and mission architecture.\tEvaluation and Alignment: Evaluate network architectures to ensure alignment with cloud and network modernization strategies, capabilities, and requirements.\tSecurity Enforcement: Enforce security best practices and guidelines, leveraging your knowledge of security policies, network security, and data security.Basic Qualifications:\tBachelor’s degree and 12+ years of relevant experience.\tAbility to obtain and maintain DoD Secret clearance.\tExperience in designing, deploying, and operating software-defined networking solutions.\tExpert understanding of networking, including LAN, WAN, TCP/UDP, IPSec, VPN, proxies, routing (L2/L3), firewalls, and software-defined networking.\tExperience with dual-stack networking (IPv4 and IPv6).\tUnderstanding of Federal Government application, server, and network security requirements (NIST, FedRAMP, FISMA).\tStrong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work effectively within a distributed technical team.\tFamiliarity with the Atlassian suite, including Jira and Confluence.\tCurrent IAT Level II (or higher) Certification such as Security+ or CISSP.Preferred Qualifications:\tActive DoD Secret clearance.\tCertified Cisco Network Professional (CCNP) or equivalent.\tExperience with Infoblox DDI (DNS, DHCP, and IPAM) installation, configuration, and management.EEO EmployerApex Systems is an equal opportunity employer.
