Job Description:
The Construction Estimator will work with the Sales and Executive Teams in the pursuit and tracking of work opportunities. The ideal candidate is experienced and able to perform the tasks described below independently.
Duties:
·Prepare project cost estimates from the client’s RFQ documents and drawings and any other information learned during the pre-bid showing for federal and state opportunities as either a General Contractor (GC) or a Subcontractor.
·Able to explain details behind each estimate, including the basis of the man-hours allocated for each task, personnel resources needed to execute each task, etc.
·Coordinate and manage buyout, and resolve pricing-related issues pertaining to subcontractor’s job costs and materials.
·Solicit new subcontractors/suppliers and ensure necessary pre-qualification steps are taken.
·Work with superintendents to organize project schedule.
·Secure pricing, organizing, and issuing of subcontracts for all comprehensive jobs.
·Update wage rates, materials, and equipment costs as needed.
·Deliver timely reports and accurate information to management.
·Research new and upcoming opportunities for viability and fit for industry.
·Perform other duties as required.
Requirements:
·Must have US Work Authorization. Sponsorship is NOT available for this position.
·College degree preferred or equivalent experience in lieu of degree.
·Previous related estimating experience.
·Thorough knowledge and understanding of the construction industry, including AIA billings, submittals, RFI’s, change orders, and project scheduling.
·Able to read and fully comprehend detailed construction plans, drawings, and specifications.
·Possess excellent written and verbal communication skills and be able to effectively communicate with the field, management, and clients alike.
·Advanced computer skills required.
·Must be detail-oriented and highly organized.
·Able to work in a fast-paced work environment.
·Able to maintain composure under pressure and meet strict deadlines.
·Must be proactive and solution-oriented.
